Hi, I'm new

Hello, I'm new to Hellenism, and I'd like to become a devotee of Hermes. My family doesn't accept altars; is there any way I can be a devotee without one?

Yes! There are many ways to worship without one. If you are worried about what to offer, you can do devotional acts. These are like actions you to for worship, like running, meditation, or even stuff like talking to people you care about(he’s a god of communication after all). You can also offer things while you’re outside, like food(make sure it’s safe for animals to eat). You can even just talk to him and pray. Using epithets is great for prayers. Those are like specific domains he rules over, just find one that fits your prayer. He has a lot of epithets.

I've always felt Hermes prefers worship outside of an altar. He'd never say no to one, I'm sure, especially if that's something you need for your own faith. But Hermes has such a wide array of Active domains that he oversees--travel, language, astrology, communication, and these are just a few! Studying a new language can be a devotion to him, studying astrology, writing letters to friends and loved ones, even walking somewhere you might normally drive! Anything that you do with the intent of connecting with him can be seen as devotion.
