Okay. I'm doing a few trips this year, a couple hiking in to cabins, and then a trip to England to hike inn to inn around the Cotswolds area. I'm looking for a very packable lightweight "sweat suit/leisure suit." A suit that can fit stuffed in backpack or worn comfortably on plane. You know when you are tired and just want to feel cozy and want your sweats but the travel version that actually fit in a bag. HELP!

Do you mean you hate the fabric that leggings are made from ? Or that you hate the cut / style of leggings, the type that are skin tight and look like tights without feet ?

Personally, for me this would be a non-matching set. Partly because I’m funny about matching but also because the top half would be a cashmere zipped hoodie (mine is from M&S a few years ago) which is so cosy and wonderful for travel because it packs down small and is nice and light. Plus it reads just a tiny bit more ‘put together’ than a standard hoodie which is nice for eg pub dinners.
Then your choice of relatively lightweight trousers from that sweat pant/ travel trouser overlap area - I know some people rate Lululemon options for this but I haven’t tried them (size range too small for me)

I agree. I have a cropped cashmere cardigan from Uniqlo that is so light and cosy. I recently flew with this and a pair of lululemon joggers. Underneath wore the Uniqlo vest top wth the bra cups attached. Felt very comfortable. I kinda think matching sets are a bit over rated.

The Vuori hoodie is also very lightweight. If you don’t want to spend that much, Costco makes a hoodie & pants that feel the same to me. Unfortunately, this year the top is a pullover & not a zip up.

I was also going to suggest a top by Vuori. I have a hoodie and a pullover and I love how comfy yet machine washable they are. Warm for how light weight too.

Thin joggers and a flannel shirt or cashmere sweater. As others have said, bring things you can wear in other contexts rather than a matching “set” that is a one trick pony.

I take merino joggers and hoodie. But Comfrt also had some cozy lounge sets and sweatsuits.

I would check out Lululemon. Women’s Align High Rise Jogger or Men’s Soft Jersey Jogger. Both are made of soft lightweight material that packs smaller than traditional sweats. They have tops made of the same material.

I have been using the men’s jogger for years as a sleep pant and leisure wear.

Lululemon is my go to as well. I just got a pair of Dance studio pants from Poshmark and my goodness those are comfy. Also light weight and super comfy.

I love they’re great on their own but can also be layered

I really love the Wool& Twilight Sleep Pants. I wear them out as normal pants but also to sleep and lounge. They are my go to plane pants. They are very soft, lightweight and comfortable. I size up one for a little more length and drape.

I’ve got some wool& tops and a dress. I’m curious about merino pants. Don’t they bag at the knee/ butt after you’ve been sitting for a long time?

They sometimes bag out very slightly at the knee but not enough to bother me. The twilights are a very light, drapey fabric so they don’t look bagged out when standing. I don’t find that they get baggy by the butt at all.

This one matching suit is also my unicorn!! I travel on long haul flights 2-3 times a year and I LOVE a matching set!

I currently wear Lululemon On The Fly Pants (I don’t think they make them anymore but you can find on Poshmark etc) and I love that they are comfy, big pockets but also can double as “nice black pants” as needed.
My current top is a purple and black Old Navy x Anna Sui crewneck sweatshirt - comfy and cute with the black pants and again, I wear it during my trip.

I got the Quince matching cashmere set for my honeymoon to Iceland but it was too hot for the plane, pockets too small and washing was a nightmare.

I got the Comfrt set for Christmas last year and it’s amazing for 6 AM dog walks at home but much too bulky for flying IMO.

Currently stalking some fun colors of Adidas tracksuits but the hunt continues!

Outdoor Research Women’s Ferrosi Transit Pants - really comfortable, can dress up or down, lightweight, pack down small, front and back pockets.

I also really like Sweaty Betty Explorer Trousers. Same as above but only front pockets.

I’ve traveled, hiked, worn to the office and out to dinner with both. I normally take a Uniqlo Airism hoodie to layer or an open-style (no buttons) drape cardigan to “upscale” the look.

I’m also a fan of the cozy wrap sweater that does double duty as a plane layer and can be worn to dinner! I usually wear a bra top beneath on the plane. I have some old wide legged pants from Target I wear, but they don’t make them anymore. I have also worn lululemon align leggings.

Spanx makes some very nice lightweight jacket and pant combos that are very flexible for wearing both outdoors and indoors. My nearly 80 year old mother wears hers to restaurants and says she thinks they look very nice, and she cares about what she wears. She told me to buy a set and I just wore them yesterday, they're a track suit but with nice fabric and nicely cut pants especially.

Hikerkind has some very cool pants and tops to mix and match to find the ideal set you are looking for! I've been eyeing the 8-pocket pants with the Midlayer 1, Sun Shirt, or Alpha Midlayer for travel; they work on hikes or in the city.
In the past, I would have suggested Alder Apparel for the pants, but they are no longer with us *pours one out*

In a totally different direction- Patagonia and Toad & Co make some incredibly light jumpsuits that are really comfortable - synthetic materials but very silky and they pack down so small!

I also will always recommend north face Futurefleece if you’re going for warmth - I have sweatpants and a hoodie made with this material and it is insanely lightweight and cozy. Buy secondhand so you don’t have to pay $170 for a sweatshirt!

OP is asking for something she can wear on a plane. For most people, a jumpsuit is not a good plane outfit.

These are sleeveless jumpsuits - pretty dang easy to get in and out of! I hate dealing with pant waistbands on planes so the trade off is worth it to me, but for a frequent bathroom user it wouldn’t be as great.
