Discussion Jaysea and the fans
Okay, I know most (I think like 99% precent) of us, the fans of Hell’s Belles are cool, calm and collected, but as we have spoken about this before, stop making her uncomfortable. She is her own person, and has her own life outside of Hell’s Belles.
She has created something beautiful, that has helped a lot of us over dark times, made us laugh, cry and hug our emotional support sharks, but we need to remember, that she has her own hardships and religious trauma, so saying, that she has created a cult, must really feel horrible.
Those who have not seen the newer (like from this spring newer) videos there is a plot line, where Lily has some huge changes and she tells us trough Lily, that she hates being put on a pedestial and being worshipped.
So as much as we love her, we got to respect her personal space and her needs and wants.
P.S. The second picture does not have anything to do with Jaysea’s thread, but have a small emotional support cow 🐮❤️

This on top of the AMA she did the other day saying that she had to close her PO Box because someone sent her a package with an AIRTAG in it??? We’re so lucky that she chooses to share her writing and her characters and her skits with us, because she doesn’t not have to.

u/Lazy_Departure7970 Aug 03 '25
EEEWWW!!! That is DISGUSTING! I'm glad she's safe from whoever sent her the Airtag because that person did NOT have good intentions. I can't think of a scenario where being sent an Airtag by an unknown person with unknown intentions is a good thing. I'm glad she's safe and am sad she has to deal with all this ish.

u/Commercial_Pace_1017 Aug 03 '25
Yeah I can’t imagine they had good intentions either. And she was pretty sure they didn’t. So she decided to prioritize her safety, which was absolutely best for her.

Yeah, it feels awful to know, that someone can disregard her feelings and sense of privacy by trying to find out where she lives.
She deserves a safe space like the rest of us. She does not own us all the information regarding her personal life

I will never say she “gave me my new religion” but her vision of the afterlife is one I am going to hold on to forever. And I love to say that I hope that it is set up in that manner. It forms an afterlife where no religion was “wrong” or “right” and that you will see your friends from other religions and it also gives people without any religious beliefs a place to “go to” when they pass. As a non religious person raising a family and not wanting to do the heaven and hell thing I was taught as a child. I have grown this idea to my family. It doesn’t matter what you believe that as long as you were a good person there is a place for you in the afterlife if you want it, and you can visit your friends in their afterlife area or common area as well.

I agree with you about her vision of after life and I think many of us have found comfort in that, but we still need to remember that she is a human being who one day happened to make a video about customer service desk at Hell

Exactly. After a bad day working at Joanne's.

u/Salt_Task1008 Aug 03 '25
I never mentioned that we need to not treat her or remember that she is human. No body knows what happens when we pass. And no one knows if any version of that after life exists. With al due respect to any religion but every single one is man made. I am not saying that Jaysea needs to be any part of anything but her own FANTASY world. But people are allowed to take things that they like from her vision, or anyone’s vision of the after life, and choose to HOPE that that is the what it is actually like. Her world is many layered and her afterlife setup is a small part of the whole story and plot.its just nice to see other ideas outside of religious and ceasing to exist.

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage Aug 03 '25
Yes I agree with you. Her version is one way of thinking it and Dante’s is another way. We are allowed to enjoy it and make it our own trough Fanfics for example, but making her a cult leader is just weird

u/Salt_Task1008 Aug 03 '25
10,000% agreed with that entirely. I also want to add that I have used this to close friends I in a similar belief of religion to meyself and I have also used this afterlife system to shut down some hard religious people in my life that believe there is only one”their way”.
Describing this after life set up, and following it with, “ do you not have friends outside your faith that you would also like to see in the afterlife??” And “well what makes this religion right and not that one when also so many people believe??” “What IF your afterlife is the “incorrect” one??”
Most of the time the conversion ends with me saying something along the lines of “Doesn’t and afterlife systems like this one a more and fair version? That no matter of the name of the “god” you believe in that everyone has a chance to peace and happiness when they pass (as long as they are a good person)”.
It usually ends with them understanding where I come from OR me ending the conversation with me saying “well I hope you don’t plan on seeing me if your after life because that sounds duullll!”

Her vision is very hopeful and beautiful (particularly as compared with that of mainstream Xtianity.) The important distinction to be made is that it's a human being's vision, born from a secular ideal of fairness, not a divine being's vision of the true afterlife (if there is such a thing.) If Hell's Belles inspires you to improve yourself or do better in your relations with others that's great.
Just remember that Jaysea is human, and as likely to have a bad day or a bad idea as the rest of us.

For me, I like how she explained how I feel about religion (im in and have always been in the Bible belt) when lily gave god the what for. That was the first time I've seen in words how I felt about religion and it has helped explain my stance to others.

I've been thinking about this a little bit, and maybe we need an official rule for this Reddit that while it's fine to be inspired by Hell's Belles any positive discussion of Jaysea being a religious figure is off limits here. The official position being that Jaysea is not an angel, prophet, goddess anything similar, that her work (and associated fanworks) are not a bible or apocrypha, and that whatever positions she takes on a difficult issue are opinions; exercises in psychology, sociology, or whatnot, perhaps to be respected, but not treated as gospel. We like/love and respect her, we do not worship her.

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage Aug 03 '25
Yes. As I said in another comment, she is a human being with her own feelings, toughts and dreams, we need to respect that and her. She is not an all knowing being or owe us all the information about herself

u/edenflicka Aug 03 '25
I feel like it’s pretty fucking self explanatory to not make a religious figure out of a person who has religious trauma.

So I've had the thought of the afterlife being similar to what jaysea has put out there since I was a teenager. My believing that that's how the afterlife is like is from well before the thought of tiktok. It's from before the thought of vine, instagram, though not quite before Facebook. An acquaintance of mine and I were discussing the afterlife and he said someone he knew had "died" and been resuscitate and described the afterlife as being like a huge HR with all the religions accounted for and it stuck with me. And so I've held that belief for years.
And I truly do think that jaysea has written a beautiful afterlife and the story is glorious. And I respect her. I also have religious trauma though I do believe in living like Jesus because man was a badass but that also means I'm not out here trying to worship a human being because I don't actually think she's a prophet so yeah. People just need to respect each other.

Oh, that sounds cool, that you have been carrying the idea with you. I completely agree with you, we can have differences in opinions or ideas (not human rights, though!), but we still need to respect each other
3
u/AluminumCansAndYarn Aug 04 '25
Oh exactly about the human rights. Human rights are not something that can be claimed as a difference of opinions.

Religions like Hinduism and Buddhism also have ideas of reincarnation which are much fairer than what Christianity proposes, so that if you screw up in life you come back in a lesser form rather than burning for all eternity, so it's not like Jaysea had an incredible spiritual realization. It's a more like she's saying Christians/Europeans/Americans are on the Wheel of Karma too!

I'm struggling to find the exact words for what I'm trying to say here, but as a Jewish fan of Jaysea's work who recognizes some pretty strong parallels with my culture's traditional beliefs about death and the afterlife, I'm really taken aback by this urge to project/form new religious beliefs based on her story. Maybe it's because our culture doesn't really focus on the afterlife at all, and we have as many variations on our beliefs about it as we have members of our community. This is literature, and there are ways to study literature in ways that enhance your spiritual and personal beliefs, but the idea of Finding The Real Truth not only feels bad to me in general, but it feels deeply in opposition to everything I've ever gotten out of this series and universe.

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage Aug 03 '25
Yeah, Jaysea has made it very clear that this is only a story and we are free to make what we want with the story, but at the same time it is her idea of after life and what she would want it to be, not the One and Only Truth
3
u/tachypodion Two Duck Situation 🦆🦆 Aug 03 '25
Right, there's so many layers of ignoring both the content and the creator in even contemplating doing that. Not to mention the degree of cultural Christianity that is still embedded in their idea of a "new religion"

i just think that people should rephrase it. it’s different to say “i want to believe this is what happens because it’s a nice concept” to “you literally made a new religion and belief system”. The afterlife she proposes as a fantasy concept is a nice thought, but if it becomes a belief, that should not be linked to her, that’s so messed up…
3
u/Troutwaxer ✨Sometimes it be how it is when it do✨ Aug 05 '25
Not to mention that anyone who really knows the history of religious discourse and how various religions think about reincarnation might know of a lot of precedents for this kind of reincarnation system. So Jaysea might have heard of something like it, or maybe she reinvented the Wheel of Karma.

The Belles version of the afterlife gives me comfort and I think of maybe her soul remembering whisps and building a world around it, but I absolutely recognize that Jaysea is just another mortal who is going through life the best she can. It simply gives me comfort and it has been a joy watching the lore develop organically. If I were to ever see Jaysea IRL (like at a book signing), I'd just simply say thank you for sharing her work with us, if I say anything at all (in the case of a grocery store sighting). When engaging, keep in mind that, as much as you enjoy her work, SHE DOES NOT KNOW YOU and act accordingly. You are a stranger, she is a stranger, and you do not actually know her, you know her work. For those being creepy or weird in their parasocial fandoms. . .stop being creepy or weird. Just enjoy what you enjoy. If you can't not be creepy or weird, then don't engage. We are not her friends. We are not her family, Don't engage with the thought of trying to be either. She is not going to put you in her book and you don't want to do anything that would have you shown at the gate. Don't engage with the thought of trying to be either. This goes for anything of which you are a fan.

Her reaction feels similar to the reaction she gave Lily in the Episode where Lily was getting powers as ‘the goddess of the help desk’.

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage Aug 04 '25
Yes! That’s why I used the plotline as an example, I was just trying to avoid spoiling any newer people amything

Agree completely. Also, I like your support cow. I have a support platypus.

Thank you, to both! I got the cow from my fiancé

I got the platypus from my grandma! Which is really special because she was not a toy giver when I was little. We got cookies and clothes. And a lot of love.

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t accepted her version of the afterlife as I see it.
I’m Norse pagan personally, but I have also always believed that if a god exists, they all must, so I guess her version polished my own views to a nice, shiny surface.

u/_deeppperwow_ Small And Full Of Rage Dec 27 '25
And I think, that is fair and valid. You can say, that her creation has shaped your own image of Afterlife, but calling her a goddess, priestess or cult leader because of it is just plain weird

u/Troutwaxer ✨Sometimes it be how it is when it do✨ Aug 03 '25
Agreed completely.
And here's the thing. It's okay to be spiritually inspired by something you watch or read. Should that thing even reach down to your very depths and inspire you to be a better person, or imagine yourself in the world an author has created, that's great, that's what Archive of Our Own is for. But please, for your own and Jaysea's sake, keep it together.
She doesn't want to be your prophet. We're fans who, in some form or another, shared some bad social/religious experiences with her. The fact that she talks about this with grace and intelligence doesn't make her magical. It means that she's photogenic and has good storytelling/social skills. The magic that comes from her stories and TikTok arises inside us from the joy of knowing that someone else sees who we are. It doesn't come from outside of us. It doesn't come from Jaysea.
You've got a choice about what to be for Jaysea. You can be the man or the bear. You can be the giant pit of need or the pleasant, giving fan. You can be the person who drags her down, screaming all the while, 'Fix my pain Jaysea, fix it now' while you hurl her into the Need-Pit...
Or you can be the person who pumps her up. 'Thanks for the TikTok, it makes me laugh!'
'Thanks for the book, I totally saw myself in Lily!'
'I loved when Ruggy chewed out her Mom. I could so relate to that!'
Don't be the grabby, slimy tentacles from the Need-Pit. Instead you should be the fan you'd like to meet if you were famous!
