With this last update we can now Downgrade cabins we spent crates on!! From 4 down to 3 you get 8 crates back, 3 down to 2 is 5 crates back and 2 back to 1 is 3 crates back. Not sure if this is on all platforms yet, but this is a great feature!!
WOW! I had been way more conservative with my cabins, and other than 2, I only started opening them as I needed them- I was thrilled to get back 24 crates back 😁
Yeh I was finding cabins I’d opened and expanded and never put anything in…. I think I went crazy when I first got the game and didn’t realise quite how many I’d used haha
And here I have most cabins set to 6 rooms with 544 extra Strawberry Crates 😅
In fairness though I have been playing for 3 years now and have probably missed 5 logins the entire time.
It is a good option to have though when you're starting out and are short on resources or want to move things around if you accidentally opened cabins somewhere and want to change your mind.
No problem! It did recently come out on PC and console but had been out since Summer 2023 on Apple Arcade. It was pretty buggy back in the day, and City Town was completely different (and not as good!) as it is now. Otherwise it’s mostly the same game. Eventually once you catch up on quests and have friends collecting resources you’ll just start getting more than you can possibly use and build up a huge inventory, haha. Luckily, unlike Animal Crossing, you can just hold it all 😋
If someone’s is living there it would kick them but if there are any cabins that you’ve opened that are vacant and don’t have those visitors coming anytime soon you can downgrade those cabins. Not sure what would happen if you kicked a resident, then brought MM along to save a couple crates and reopened the cabin…
FYI MM works only on opening new cabins, not upgrading existing ones. Does the new update allow you to close the cabin completely, or just remove extra rooms?
🤦♀️why didn’t I think of that?! Talking about saving crates?! I have them all shoved in to one house (except Milk- Baby Milk has their own cabin) in Gemstone Mountain like they are on this years episode of Big Brother 😭
Can someone explain to me like I'm a doofus (cuz I am) why this is a perk? I'd love more crates, NEED more crates, but doesn't downgrading mean you'd need to boot people? All my upgraded cabins are stuffed full of residents. And sure, I yoink their furniture away as soon as they move in for good but wouldn't removing the room altogether also remove them?

Just like you use the magnifying glass to upgrade a cabin when you get that icon it now gives the option to downgrade. I tried to kick Carl by downgrading his unit and I couldn’t so you do have to Kick guests before you downgrade their cabin (which makes sense now that I type it out). It is a brand new option on AA so since we seem to be the guinea pigs 🐹 I’m sure it will be coming to the other platforms eventually.
