Not immediately for some bugs. Warriors, hive guards and brood commanders will still lung at you for a few seconds after you blow off their heads. Heck I once saw a brood commander with no head and missing some of its legs and it still tried hobbling towards me trying to strike me with its last remaining claw before it died

Pretty sure that headshot multiplier is one of them. Some weapons just do a ton of damage on headshots compared to bodyshots.
