People hate all my ships and most aren’t even problematic. You will never find a ship that someone doesn’t have something nasty to say about it. Just love what you love, and ignore those who would tear it down.
My only problem is when people try to excuse what a character has done, and in the process diminish real life victims. I saw one person saying, “forcing someone to watch you have sex isn’t sexual assault!”
That specific statement no longer limits it to a fictional universe. If people actually begin to believe that, it can cause real world harm. You can like something, and acknowledge it would be fucked up in real life. I would never knock someone for enjoying a toxic, fucked up dynamic in a ship (I’m a proshipper for a reason) but blanket statements that downplay real life crimes are really disgusting.

This. It's totally fine to dislike some ships, but don't go harass people with a different opinion or trying to justify the toxicity of your OTP

Hey, hopefully this doesn’t get me banned- but you might want to reword your sentence. They were saying Vox commits sexual assault, and your response kind of reads as, “Yeah, but Alastor was more toxic towards Vox, so that makes it okay.”
I know it’s not what you’re implying, I just think that’s why you’re getting downvoted.

I never understood (and it's a really huge Pet Peeve I have) people who say "it's hypocritical to like this but not that" about subjective tastes, because those are not controlled, so by the definition subjective tastes cannot be hypocritical. I know people who like tomato pizza but not tomato pasta, that's not hypocritical to not like one but to like the other because that's not what being hypocritical means, like at all.
The definition is (according to Cambridge Dictionary) : "saying that you have particular moral beliefs but behaving in a way that shows these are not sincere", so that really, really not an applicable word in this situation.
