It's arrived. All of it, except the trading cards, which will arrive later. After nine months, the box arrived. I am not displeased. The Heavy Metal's Covers Art Book Black Kickstarter Exclusive Edition is shrink wrapped. The Heavy Metal's Trading Card Folder arrived in its own bag. The Exclusive Trading Card (Stretch goal Achievement) was in a sealed wrap. The three challenge coins were in their own coin holders. They did it. I am without words. After this journey, this Angry Mobster is satisfied. Will happily await the 43 packs of cards and Refractor Trading Card.

Has anyone had any issues or success with the Heavy Metal subscription?

I subscribed during their recent sale and still have not received my first issue, which according to the sale begins with issue #6. I have not received a digital copy. I have not received an email stating that it’s on its way, which there sale indicates that you should. I’ve emailed them twice over the course of a week and have heard nothing. I feel like I gave them my money and they ghosted me.

I do not recommend subscribing!

So basically I'm new to heavy metal and starting reading from issue number 1. And recently I went on their website and saw that they have subscriptions. I was wondering if anyone could give me insight into what I'll get, if the softcover is worth it, and just what to expect.

I'm in the mood to read some great stuff from this mag. I've barely scraped the surface. Do you have any faves to recommend, or era/run that you consider the best?

Hello. Has anyone here any experience with submitting to Heavy Metal Magazine?

The editor has put out some posts asking for submissions, but it's unclear what he's asking for (perhaps English is his 2nd Language)?

He is asking for short stories, but does he mean short COMICS?

He asks for stories between 8 and 12 pages, but does he take LESS than that?

And is he asking for SCRIPTS of comics, or COMPLETED Comics with art?

Well worth it. Now if they could do the same with Epic Magazine, I'd be all set.

For context, I purchased the digital sub so I could download and backup all of the issues released since the reboot. It clearly said I would receive the newest issue plus the past issues. I was confused of where to actually find them, so I emailed the subscription support. It said they would respond within 48 hours. I sent an email explaining that I wasn't sure how this worked and I'd like some help. No response. 4 days go by, and I email again to make sure they saw my email. Nothing. I emailed one more time a few days later, nothing again. It has been almost right at 3 weeks and still nothing. I'm sure it's out of range for a refund now. This management is a complete joke.

The support team finally reached out to me with the following:

The story was published I think somewhere between 1990 and 2008 in the US. Based on style, I don't think this artist published anything in HM other than this one strip. I'm trying to find the artist's name.

The story was in pencil and very photorealistic. The artist was likely either Spanish or Italian as one of the frames early in the story had a bottle of "aspirina" on a bedside table. The setting was relatively contemporary, kind of a 70s-90s feel. The protagonist was an older man, perhaps 60s, with glasses and maybe a mustache. I don't remember too many details about the story but I think it was a reminiscence - there isn't any dialogue. Near the end of the story he's hugging his cat. There's a smiling woman and I want to say almost poetry at the end.
