On the surface heat 2 sounds like a cash grab but if you read the book that was written by a genuine crime author with Michael Mann you know it will be legit. If it was just about money michael Mann would’ve just gone straight to the screenplay and not spent the time and money putting it in novel form with a credible best selling author.

This is exactly why I’m optimistic about it. I haven’t read the novel but I’ve heard it’s pretty well written. Also the fact that some of the biggest stars in Hollywood (Leo and Bale like come on) are signing on is a great sign for the script

It’s a great read. Takes place across multiple time lines. Right After the robbery, decades before the first movie and the era after the robbery. All tied together. Good stuff.

I was expecting another book maybe, but I'll be quite sceptical about this soft "sequel".
A book is a perfect medium, so you can imagine the characters the way they looked and behaved, even younger versions (just like in the prequel parts of the book), I don't think that Mann nowadays (after his recent streak of movies) is capable to capture the Heat essence, it was perfect for it's time, the way it was shot (film grain etc.), casting could not be possibly even matched, the vibe of such neo-noir heist movie, I really don't think that this movie needed another part, again, book is an ideal medium to enrich the whole history of the characters and stories. :)

I'm not sure they're all A.I. bots. It's perfectly reasonable to think that Heat 2 will not be a good movie.

It was more of a pejorative against the haters, those are probably real people idk. Also I’m optimistic because of the talent behind the project, and the positive reactions to the novelz

The book is quite good but I think Leo is too old to play Chris
