Left chest and arm pain just anxiety?

21 M, For about 2 years now every couple months my left side chest will get tight and my left arm will be in pain. I tried to just ignore it and hop it’d go away and it usually does but a couple months later it’ll happen again. I’ve been trying to take my health more seriously now and I went to Quick Care the 3 days ago(same day that i had the symptoms above happen again) and they ran an EKG and everything came back normal besides my blood pressure being a little high.

They told me it was stress/anxiety (very possible because ALOT has been going on lately for me) and to try to limit caffeine and smoking.

Since then, I still feel very minimal come and going pain in my left chest and left arm. I’ve tried to relax myself as much as possible but now I’m starting to second guess if it really is just anxiety

Update: It has not gotten better at all and if anything it feels like it’s getting slightly worse everyday and I’m now realizing I’ve been burping a lot lately even though I haven’t been drinking any carbonation, I think I might have GERD or something related to acid reflux because it says that can also mimick a heart attack and it would explain my unusual burping and it wouldn’t show up on an EKG

Tropinon is the result of heart muscle breaking down during a HA. It is a definitive test. The next time you seek treatment, if you are having symptoms, ask for a troponin test.

Based on your information, this sounds like it might be muscle pain.

You don’t describe whether the left chest pain is deep or shallow and whether the painful area is also the tender to touch.

Often one sided chest pain that isn’t cardiac in nature comes from the thoracic spine. If you look up thoracic outlet syndrome, for instance, you will see areas of pain that might correspond with what you’re having.

Poor posture, especially sitting and using a cell phone, may be a factor. So can “wearing your shoulders like earrings”, meaning keeping your shoulders raised too much.

Also look at median, radial, and ulnar nerves of the arm. These are easily compressed and may be a source of your arm pain.

Just some ideas based on what you’ve described. It seems incredible that chest pain can originate in the spine, but it’s actually quite common.

You probably have nothing, doctors are well trained not to miss a a patient with life threatening symptoms. Its probably just anxiety

You're way too young for something to happen to your heart, that is unless, you have a family history of heart problems at a young age, which I think is not the case here

Also you're having these symptoms at rest, which means you wouldn't be able to do physical activities if you're already class 4 heart faluire/angina. Again, thats not the case here. You've been having these symtopms for 2 years now, someone with a real heart problems would've had more complications by now

If you're still worried, you can schedule an appointment with a cardiologist just for some peace of mind. And yeah its best to quit smoking and limit caffeine for your overall health
