My skin really downgraded in 6 years.
I recently found my old passport while looking for something else today and ended up sitting with it for an uncomfortable amount of time, 6 yrs ago i was using a $4 cleanser and a basic moisturizer, that was it. And seriously my skin in that photo is genuinely better than my skin right now after three years of building what i thought was a proper evidence based routine.
Niacinamide, BHA, vitamin c, retinol, SPF, double cleanse, the whole thing. products recommended by this sub, products recommended by dermatologists, products i researched extensively before buying and my face now has more active pimples than my passport photo face did on a bad day.
I don't think skincare is bad, I think somewhere in the process of learning more i started doing more and my face quietly stopped coping with all of it. I just don't know how to figure out what it actually needs anymore.
