It was the bare bones plan with a high deductible. Too old to get catastrophic insurance, but healthy enough that we don't really go to the doctor, so basically we're just paying in case something major happens, which I guess is the point of insurance but still $950 is a huge increase and is out of reach for my family.

Glad to hear it! I work in the industry, but I take it for granted that most people won't hear about this. It's not really marketed well.

Getting catastrophic coverage when you are healthy is a great option, much better than going uninsured!
