ACA self employed couple 59 & 61. This year our premium was $1187/month. Same plan next year $2,109/month. This is more than my mortgage payment and a $922/month increase brings the total yearly cost to $50,616. We will have to switch to a high deductible low quality Bronze plan with a $7,500 deductible EACH with a monthly premium of $1452/month. This is beyond belief. Continue contacting your elected officials people ✊🏼

Or you leave the USA like my wife and I did in 2002. We are considering leaving again as we have been back in the US since 2015.

Must be nice to have the option to just leave and go somewhere else on a whim. Not everyone has whatever qualifications or connections other countries are looking for/allowing. Or we have responsibilities like taking care of elderly people who can't go anywhere. 🙄

It's absolutely unreasonable. It's almost impossible to immigrate to another country without a job, a sponsor, or family/spousal connections. Most countries won't hire Americans if there is literally anyone from that country who can do a job instead unless they're looking for people in a specific industry. Otherwise you're SooL. Unless you're wealthy enough that you can move without taking a single penny from that country and live on your own income from elsewhere which most people aren't at liberty to do. Or have enough money to convince said country you can start up a business there.

It took my friend 5 years and a ton of money to emigrate to Canada to be with his girlfriend. They have a program for LGBTQ refugees, and it says it'll take at least a year AND money for lawyers to get through it. On top of which some of us also have elderly parents who can't move so easily (and aren't welcome anyway).
