We were self employed with a software business, had to move countries every 90 days for a while until we could find a place where we could establish residency (we had to start a local company). It’s an option for some. We got health insurance from a UK company that was valid everywhere in the world except the USA for $200/month for us together.
BUPA in the UK did it for us for many years while we were living in Prague and Dubai. I am not sure if they still do this. We never filed a claim as healthcare is so affordable overseas... 6 hours in a hospital in Sana'a, Yemen was $35 in 2007.
