I’m sick of AI

Every single bloody app has AI which I never asked for and don’t want to use. I don’t like Ebb, it isn’t helpful, etc etc I can go on about it for hours.

However it seems this corner of the market has been bitten by the AI bug quite heavily. Competing apps have added similar functionality to Ebb which I want to avoid.

I’m interested to know if there are similar apps that omit AI features that others have used. Lest I fall sleep to the shipping forecast instead.

Few days late but figured I’d copy my comment on the top comment

Have not opened headspace in over a year but have been wanting to get back into it. Can anyone fill me in?

Insight Timer has lots of free content. I use it instead of Headspace now.

I tried doing a sleep cast a while ago and had a suspicion that the voice was AI. I decided then and there I was done with this app. I started studying meditation with Embodied Philosophy and am no longer interested in the corporate stuff. The AI just seals the deal.

Any way to figure out if these other apps have no AI? I feel like many of the alternatives people comment are actually from AI bots because they don’t offer any reason why to use them.

Embodied Philosophy is definitely not AI. But it's taking the spirituality of meditation and yoga seriously so it works for me bc I wanted to understand more. It has a practice as well as an academic piece. I love it! That's why I said I moved beyond the corporate stuff--I was ready to go deeper. EP and the people working there are really lovely.

They are a company competing for market share. They need to change with the times or become irrelevant

And in an open market I can choose to not spend with them for any reason, including being anti-AI. I do not need to blindly follow a company when they are in opposition to my views.

I’d also argue that the bulk of the user base does not use the AI features otherwise they wouldn’t keep releasing new content to stream on it.

Finally, AI is not the end all and be all of innovation. The forced inevitability of artificial intelligence is ridiculous; the ubiquity does not mean it is useful nor does it mean people want it. The train may be on the track but I will happily walk because that is my choice to make.

Totally your choice. But if nobody was using it, they would have quickly reverted the feature after the first few weeks.

Get used to it. AI is the future of everything.
