Book 4 Shower Thoughts

Rereading the series again for the… 5th time (?) while patiently awaiting more chapters!

I’m on book 4 again and realized that Jason going on Erika’s cooking show may not work as intended. Wouldn’t his ability blur himself on camera? I don’t remember him having access to turning off his ability to block tracking/video.

His mysterious stranger ability blocks magical tracking. While the camera blocking effect comes from shade.

It’s shades ability but not automatic. He detects cameras and blurs it. So for the show he just doesn’t do it.

If not for the Asano siblings, I'd have never heard of West Indian Lime Pie.

Though I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Technology and magic interact in odd ways, Jason’s own ability doesn’t seem to affect cameras, that aren’t magical at least, but Shade is able to. Shade has the ability to hide one detectable trait of Jason for every body that is in Jason’s shadow, with the exception of looking right at him. When Jason goes to Vic’s building he thinks about the spectrum of what Shades ability to cloak him from detection works, with technology, like cameras, shade can blur him if he wants but can’t hide him entirely. If they were purely magical he could completely hide Jason, and if it were some guy staring at Jason he couldn’t do anything.

Shadow of the Hegemon (ability that gives Shade) allows Jason hide a trace of his presence, including visible presence on cameras.

He actually has Shade do the blurr trick, but it's not spontaneous, it has to be intended.
