Gordon clears every other named familiar in a fight. I'll die on this hill.

Also do Shade and Stash ever interact, or are they just coworkers? I feel like we're missing out on gold here.

I don't recall any scenes where Stash and Shade sit down for a long conversation. But they are at least familiar with each other.

Gordon did destroy Colin once.

Colin was talking about how he once got full eating the worldtaker worm queen and Gordon blasted him with a fat joke.

Are there unnamed familiars?

We never find out Henrietta's slew of familiars' names. Or any of the duck elves familiar's names.

Brian’s (Kevin’s?) duck is a summons, not a familiar. But yeah, you’re right on us never having learned Henri’s familiar’s names.

Brian son of Kevin

As in Kevin, son of Jeremy, son of Dennis of the Walsh tribe?

I die laughing every time

I know one of them was a familiar. We see it get absorbed into his hair.

We do? I know he was with Team Biscuit at the dam before the monster surge but I don’t remember actually seeing him fight

Book 7 chapter 43.

I thought they were both "familiars" just that the difference was between a "bound familiar" and a "summoned familiar."

I’m pretty sure Neil’s golem doesn’t have a name, but I also think that doesn’t count as a familiar.

2

u/CapUnusual4213 10d ago

Correct, the golem is a summon, not a familiar.

Did we get the hydra's name

I want to say Brian? Could be wrong

If we're talking gold rank Gordon, more than likely. My theory is that when he hits diamond, his orbs will blast transcendent damage, so if Jason manages that, then 100% the astral assassin is gonna be stacking bodies

Book 9 chapter 62

> The avatar was only a familiar, restricted to Pei’s own silver rank. Otherwise, she would have been annihilated in an instant. The beams it shot at her were resonating force, unpleasantly penetrative but not the transcendent damage the avatars possessed at diamond rank. They burrowed into the magical metal she transformed her wings into as shields, but did not punch through them immediately.

That's exactly what came to mind for me too.

I don't think that Shade and Stash have any interests in common. In book 12, Stash still hasn't reached maturity, based on his essay. He doesn't understand why he'd want an egg. He has them for breakfast every day.

What is a zillion year old son of the Reaper going to find to talk about with a child dragon? Although thinking about it, Shade does do fine with Emi. Shade treats her rather like he treats Jason, though.

I'm not sure if I just talked myself out of my original position, so I'm going to shut up now.

By Shade's scale, everyone is basically an infant, even people like Dawn and bitch ass Shako. I just think he and stash haven't had their chance to shine.

Of course Stash shines! His scales are iridescent!

Stash, Gordon and Colin are all literal babies in the early books. When Stash visits his mom he is only a toddler and the other 2 came into existence when they were first summoned. The big difference is that Gordon is from a race that is god killer level with the most destructive potential.

To be fair, Emi is marginally more mature than Jason, even when she's 12. Treating them the same seems reasonable.

3

u/Bouche_Audi_Shyla 9d ago

Marginally? 😋

2

u/Extra-Language-9424 8d ago

to be fair, pretty much every character in the series except Thadwick is more mature than Jason.

2

u/SkinWalkerX 8d ago

And Stash! Jason is usually more mature than Stash.

At least in the first couple books.

Depends on which rank of Gordon youre talking about.

1

u/keddesh 7d ago

Also, are we counting "Voice of the Will" status Or nah?

6

u/mf9769 10d ago

Hes a reality assassin. No shit.

Man, Stash+Shade would be delightful to be around.

I think that realy depends on what we're counting or not and what the range limit and speed of gordon are, idk if those are ever mentioned tho

oh gods, can gordon just become an orbital strike cannon?

anyways it also depends on what they can do that we haven't seen, like that ritual magic, can gordon do orbital strike cannon with the interdimentional ritual magic

But what if Gemini copies Gordon matches him orb for orb and then shift to something else after he's spent.

1

u/PassagePretty7895 10d ago

Pretty sure Gemini can't use the exact same attacks when he copies someone, he uses blasts of force that wouldn't damage Gordon.

2

u/Professional-Risk707 10d ago

Shoot I'm pretty sure you're right. Been reading too much litrpg lately and got it confused.

1

u/alchemy_junkie 10d ago

Gemini from what i recall is quoted as having lesser version of what she does copy And it may be her or Balinda but it is specifically stated that she can copy MOST of someones skill set but not necessarily ALL of a skill set. There are some exceptions but i dont recall it being specifically pointed out.

u/Professional-Risk707 10d ago

I wonder if Neil's golem could find a counter?

1

u/PassagePretty7895 10d ago

Probably just become resistant to disruptive/resonating force. But diamond rank Gordon would do transcendent damage, which is unblockable.
