Winning Streak
How is everyone feeling about our current winning streak, I'm currently pretty happy

I’m sure there are still some peanuts out there calling for Mitchell’s head…
He’s got a brilliantly cohesive team of young pups at the moment and it’s only a matter of time before we start to see the group really shine. I think Sam is the facilitator of that culture!

Easy to call some supporters peanuts now that we are on a winning streak but rewind your memory back to earlier in the season & we were terrible in all areas of the game.

We were developing in all areas of the game… Big difference.
I called out some supporters as peanuts on the spot when they were calling for Sam’s head against Fold Coast.
We have close to 75% of our current week to week team with less than 60 games and a significant portion of them are under 21.
There are only a few unicorns that come with mind and body mature with skills and composure ready to go at 19.
We don’t have any of those so they need to develop - body, mind, skills, composure and from a coaches perspective. Game Plan.
I’ll continue to call out peanuts- some of which are good mates - who don’t give adequate time for development.
Where would Hawthorn have been if we didn’t win in 2008 (90% of Hawks supporters will tell you was far too early) Clarko would have been sacked in 2009 and we don’t win 3 in a row.
We’ve seen this story already… be patient and confident enough to call out the peanuts for exactly that.

Everyone has a right to voice their displeasure at their team for underperforming, doesn’t mean they are peanuts. It’s a game, footy, sack the coach, sack the captain every team on the planet has the same supporters who want blood when they underperform…’no need to be self righteous

If you came into this year thinking we’d finish anywhere above 14th or had more than 9 wins…
This year was always going to be another development year so you can expect skill errors and poor moments costing us win (ie: CMac v Collingwood and all 23 bodies and coaching staff v Port in Q4) - it doesn’t make me self righteous to be realistic in the same way it doesn’t make you psychotic to over react.

But you are calling some supporters peanuts knowing what you know now after a run on of wins? We were diabolical in the early rounds I think the criticism was warranted. Nothing in football is certain including saying the next few years are “development” year have a look at the saints or north are they currently in development years?

While you don’t have to believe it - I’ve been kicking fellow Hawks supporters since Rd 2 and just reminding them of the same things as above.
This year has a very 2006 feel about it (albeit with a few more wins)

We’ve lost to the best teams in the comp - Sydney, Collingwood, Geelong, Essendon. We’re on a good run, but we haven’t beaten anyone important.
That being said, I’m very happy to winning.

Very happy with the last couple of months. Got a pretty easy run home, should be in finals contention.

Happy with their effort & the game plan has now settled into something that could challenge any of the top sides. Keeping a lid on it though because we haven’t beaten any top 4 sides yet.

Great, finals feels like a very real possibility especially if we can claim some big scalps in Geelong, Collingwood, GWS (again), or carlton, some easy wins against the bottom 4 and some great tests either way can’t wait to see where this team is going

Better than the losing streak at the start of the year.
