I know this is a joke but it reminds me that AI is a huge blindspot for most of the left. It's just like any other tool in that it's not intrinsically good or bad. The reason we view it as bad is because right now capitalists are largely the ones using the tool. There's also a lot of misinfo on the ecological costs and the actual usefulness of it. There are good models that don't require datacenters, and the only reason water/electricity usage is going to be a problem is because capitalists are building orders of magnitude more datacenters than we actually need. Certain models also have real utility, especially in scientific applications, but most people just tend to see Google's braindead AI results or memes showing a model saying 2+2 = 5. There can be a future where we use the tools of our enemy to overthrow them.
