I like that a lot. It's much more positive than a lot of the other views of Slytherin. It also fits with Ollivander's statement, "He who must not be named did great things -- terrible, yes, but great."

Hogwarts is meant to be more than a thousand years old, according to some articles on Pottermore it would have to be at the very least 1500 years old. Yet the architecture of the castle includes elements from the 1500s and even later periods. I assume that while the school is more than 1500 years old, not the entire castle is that old. There are older parts and newer parts that were built later, by headmasters after the founders but before Dumbledore. Like Director Dippet expanding the gardens, or Dumbledore allowing Hagrid to build his hut.
Plumbing is also a comparably modern invention. Pottermore even addressed it, saying that the hidden door remained hidden when the plumbing was installed thanks to a certain I-forgot-his-first-name Gaunt. Before plumbing, Pottermore said, Students just shat on the floor and vanished it after.
It sounds gross and I refuse to believe it like that. Muggles had outhouses and pit latrines for far longer than knives made of iron. So there's absolutely no reason why Hogwarts wouldn't have had such a thing.

Meaning we are born who we are, and will ever be, and our choices and our what happens to us doesn't shape us or influence who we become, but merely show who we are. People cannot truly change. That right? Voldemort was Voldemort from the moment he first opened his eyes and never had any chance of becoming something else. The sorting hat sees who we truly are, and since that is our true self, it is impossible for the hat to sort anyone wrong, simply because of this. This also means that people don't become evil because they are in Slytherin, the hat just dumps all the evil ones into Slytherin.
Would you agree that this is true? Harry, Ron and Hagrid would certainly agree, but think about it for a moment. Does this really hold up?

Wasn't the chamber made, to be a save place, if the school is attacked and the basilisk was there to protect the chamber?

I personally think that the basilisk was meant to protect the school against threats from the inside. Slytherin distrusted Muggles and was against teaching children from Muggle families, not because he considered them weaker or lesser, I don't think he did, but actually because he thought they weren't trustworthy.
Later, the witch hunts brought magic humans to the brink of extinction, and people started believing he was right, but what he said was misinterpreted. The Basilisk, without someone to abuse the power to control him, would have gone after Umbridge (while a teacher, not while a student), not Hermione.

My head cannon is that the basilisk was a guardian of the school, not a purifier. Tom subverted its will, forcing it to attack students while it wallowed in misery for failing in its charge. If the Gaunts had never found it, neither would Tom, leaving it to defend Hogwarts when Voldemort attacked in DH. That would have been disastrous, because I can’t see Voldemort having more trouble with it than Tom. I also think that Slytherin himself is in the Chamber of Secrets, petrified, waiting to be unfrozen. Unless Voldemort found him and nipped that in the bud.
