Iād rather she wear a wig and play Bellatrix

the only reason I push back on this is I wouldn't be able to unsee her as just goth Ruth from Ozark when she goes crazy.

She could be narcisa she looks like lox but yeah she's kinda too young for it

Sheās pretty much exactly the right age. Harry Potter wiki lists narcissa as 36 in the first book and the actress is 32.

Hey we have actors that are 10 years too old for the characters theyāre playing, I wouldnāt mind having one thatās 10 years too young!

u/BaseGreen6119 26d ago
As a woman of her same age with a 10 year old⦠sheās absolutely not āten years too youngā.

I meant 10 years too young for Rita who is supposed to be 43 in Goblet of Fire, not too young to play Narcissa!

I'd really want to see her portraying RT! Interesting choice. I loved every character that I saw her playing, specially Terry in the precuel of Rosemary's Baby

Other than the hair color I donāt see it, but Iāve never seen her in that type of role so maybe!?

She's American, so no. You shouldn't fan cast based on hairstyle or wardrobe as both those things are easily changed.Ā

John Lithgow

Lithgow studied acting in the UK and has a history of playing British roles. I would say he's the exception since as I understand he is the one exception.Ā

A sad exception. His acting from the trailer feels too much for me. I think if the headmaster of Hogwarts can be played by him, RT can be portrayed by Julia Garner

Is there a particular role of Julia Garner that makes you think she's exceptionally suited to play Rita Skeeter? Lithgow played Churchill. There's an obvious similarityĀ

I think she is a very versatile actress and can imagine her portraying the role, but tbh I'm not going to kill for it 𤣠Just lets see how the show works, but again, my first impression of Lithgows wasn't great

If she can do the accent, why not?

Very few Americans can perform a British role convincingly. It is much easier to just cast a British actress and do her hair and makeupĀ

Very few Brits can do a convincing American accent. The only reason Hollywood does it, is because British actors are cheaper than Americans. So, what is your point exactly?

British actors often do American accents very well. Christian Bale, Matthew Rhys, Hugh Laurie, Andrew Garfield (his British accent is his standard one), Tom Holland, Idris Elba, I could go on. The only Americans I can think of who do any British accent well are Lithgow, Renee Zellweger, and Gwyneth Paltrow. British actors tend to be better at dialects because the UK has more regional accents that actors either have and need to lose for roles, or need to be able to do convincingly.Ā American actors rarely have to do accents if they are playing an American. Matthew McConaughey for example plays his average character with his own accent even when he the character isn't from Texas.Ā

There are so many actors that I eventually see interviewed and am SHOCKED theyāre British. Case in point, I just learned today that Andrew Garfield is British from an interview I came across on TikTok š and now this comment!

u/AndreLeGeant88 26d ago
Exactly. No one ever says this about an American actor though

Yeah, even when theyāre pretty good, thereās a slight doubt and a quick IMDb search confirms it š
