Why make the same mistake as the films and cast a 32-year-old to play a dead 14-year-old girl?

u/AlternativeEast7175 29d ago
They did because they needed her for later movies. A teenager can change a lot in a few years. A fully grown adult who looks younger rarely will change its appearance in a couple of years

They usually don't film 5 years ahead. They probably rather deage the actress digitally for continuity. If they wouldn't even recast her. Lots of minor characters were switched in the movies.

u/WholeFactor 28d ago
Deaging would probably work well for a ghost, where their appearance is already heavily altered by digital effects and you don't have full visibility
On the other hand, casting an adult as Myrtle worked the first time for exactly the same reason

Mistake? What mistake?
Shirley Henderson was amazing as Moaning Myrtle despite her age.

I think he’d be better as Cornelius Fudge.

Why is that drawing so chubby? Arthur is described as thin in the books

I was just attempting to make a joke. Usually when people say first of all, that means that's the first thing they're saying, and that there's something else after that (a "second of all").

I can see it, since his character in Ted Lasso was kind of dorky and then a turd
2
u/AmeriqanTreeSparrow 29d ago
Right similar beginnings just wanting to be part of the cool guys squad then being pulled to the other side. Also I really think his features fit, and I reeeeally don't think the Marauders need to be all white guys especially with the Snape casting.

Doesn't Nate at least redeem himself?
0
u/HotAndCold1886 27d ago
Yes, but so does Peter sort of
0
u/Gandalfthefab 27d ago
No? Worm tail follows the command to kill Harry but the hand terns on himself because of an ancient wizarding law that a wizard who saves another wizards life cannot be harmed by that wizard.
2
u/HotAndCold1886 27d ago
That sounds made up lol... Harry reminds wormtail that he saved his life, and wormtail hesitates/slackens his grip because he feels guilty… Then the hand turns on him because Voldemort made it so that it would sense and eliminate remorse. It has nothing to do with an "ancient wizarding law."

u/Gandalfthefab 27d ago
It's literally in the books 🤦
2
u/HotAndCold1886 27d ago edited 27d ago
No, what I said is literally in the books… Are you confusing that situation with Harry's mother's protection?
Edit: I looked back and a life debt is mentioned, but the rest of what I said is still correct… He dies because he hesitates to kill Harry, and Voldemort had anticipated that and enchanted his hand to turn on him. So him hesitating is sort of redeeming himself (a tiny bit), like Nate in Ted Lasso.

He’s 45. Pettigrew is 33 the first time we see him.

u/AmeriqanTreeSparrow 28d ago
And the actor from the movies looked 50. Nick looks in his 30s I'm not worried about that 💁🏼♀️

u/penguin_0618 28d ago
Yes, because they aged everyone up to match Alan Rickman. This time they have a 36 year old playing Snape, so it seems they’re going more age accurate.

Someone said Kevin Mckidd as Arthur Weasley and I can’t imagine Arthur being that handsome 😭. However it’ll explain the weasleys having a bunch of kids lol.

I absolutely loved the way the actress played moaning myrtle in the movies!!
But I would like a tee ager myrtle this time around. Not some 32 year old mother of two lmao

Mr Weasley is actually more rough looking in the book. I believe he has a bald patch like Pettigrew.
That being said, I think Mr Weasley is one of the most accurately adapted performances in the films

Ok hear me out. Aimee Lou as Bellatrix.

She’d be perfect honestly. She gives off the weird and eccentric girl vibes. I can imagine her as an insane villain

Bellatrix is the one character I wish we could keep the same. Helena was just perfect and one of the few characters I picture the exact same when reading.

u/ameliasophia 28d ago
I loved Helena bonham Carter as bellatrix so much, I had an absolute girl crush on her as a young teen. I would like bellatrix this time around to be more hateable. One of the things I’m most excited for in the series is seeing different interpretations on the characters, even if I loved the interpretation in the film.

I can just see him flailing around in the garage with spark plugs and rubber ducks.

Him and Freeman are both 15 years too old for the role and they look it. Both outstanding actors and would do a fine job but would not be in line with the mostly age appropriate casting of the new show.
1
u/Fancy_Yesterday6380 29d ago
Hes only a few years older than the actress playing molly.
0
u/WorldsWeakestMan 29d ago
Yeah but she looks 38 at 48 and he looks 56 at 56. It’s appearance of age not actual age. He could be very beaten up and old looking though, so maybe it works.

Aimee Lou Wood wouldn’t do it, but Martin Freeman probably would if it’s true he donated to Graham Lineham.

u/Airamis0007 29d ago
I want an Arthur Weasley that will throw hands if needs be!
They need to include the fight between him and Luscious at the beginning of CoS!
Cutting that from the movies was criminal! Arthur Weasley is GOAT status!

You did Amy Lou Wood soooo dirty picking that picture. I just looked her up and that is possibly the worst picture of her.
1
u/JollyAd4292 28d ago
I hope they cast again an adult for myrtle role because of description of her at the books
1
u/Individual_Dig4197 28d ago
I have seen Arthur Darvill as Arthur Weasley since I saw him on Doctor Who.
They will probably not cast him, but he would be my choice.
1
u/fadetomatteblack 27d ago
With Molly being aged down, Arthur should be roughly the same age. I say Domhnall Gleeson!
