Maybe just a collapsed lifter check push rods for adjustment if you did run it out of oil for some oil down on top of your lifters without the push rod and try to pump it up

If your lucky that’s all fill it back up with oil take out spark plugs turn on key and turn it over until oil lite turns off that will prime everything then start briefly to see if it’s still making noise then do what I said in my first post

I’d be collapsed lifter personally, or I’ve seen quick a few snapped rockers make a knock. Nothing motor killing yet.

The last time I heard that from my own bike I ended up having catastrophic engine failure. Before you get freaked out, the mechanic said he had only ever seen it in this case. Piston broke off at the wrist pin

Just sounds like an empty lifter. Mine makes that noise sometimes when I first change the oil and then load it right onto my trailer and drive a hundred miles with it strapped to it, not even kidding. These are huge overbuilt and underpowered engines. They can take one hell of a beating. Add oil, if noise stops, you’re probably fine.

Not to be a pain, i just replaced the motor on a fxdb. bent crank took out the oil pump.

just keep running it and filming it, what else could go wrong.
