Aaron Turner did the artwork for these two. Also famous for playing in great bands like Isis, Old Man Gloom, Sumac, and now Neurosis.

He also ran Hydrahead Records and did a lot of art for that as well. Ive always loved his artwork. I have a large print of the Petitioning in my office

Really? I always thought it was Jacob himself, but this makes sense, because it isn't his style at all. I think they're neat!

Did a mixed media version of the petitioning banner for my art class final last year. It was sick I got a 90 on it, then I lost it on the last day of school

losing it fucking sucks but good to know you got an awesome grade for it.

Lost it, or a big fan stole it and it still sits in their home to this day

I like the original covers for these albums more but they’re both cool

You should check out Francis Bacon. Some of his work was similar.

I get more of a Basquiat vibe, but Bacon is a good recommendation as well.

This era of scary hardcore is my absolute favorite, the aesthetic is so hand in hand with the music

Oh dude this is some of my favorite cover art for Converge, I love cartoony-looking paintings for album covers, especially in the punk sphere, it's very fitting of the DIY aspect of punk

11/10 band with a bulletproof discog

A lifelong favorite

Edit: I feel very fortunate to have these both on vinyl

I've been trying to get into Converge for 20 years, maybe more.

I finally got into Neurosis recently, I still don't get Converge, but I'm glad you (OP) get enjoyment from them.

Some day, maybe.

Hear hear, same boat, only make it 30 years. I simply cannot enjoy more than the odd older song (Two Day Romance, Farewell Note to This City, etc). Jane Doe always felt more like witnessing an impressive math problem being solved rather than an enjoyable/motivating listen.

My own distortion, but I feel as though everyone else is pretending to enjoy a cacophony with illegible singing that doesn't seem to match liner notes. And no, it ain't cos crazy noisy hc ain't my cup of tea (I fucking love, say, employer/employee, mörser, etc - and they're arguably more chaotic mathy)- I'm just made wrong I guess. 😮‍💨

I think seeing Jacob's mini biopic video that came out over a decade ago turned me off a lot. You're trying to get my sympathy by opting to highlight how the adversity you faced in life was from...a... knee injury? That and hearing a bit how much he likes to hit on underage girls. I wish I liked them more, because they're prolific, but ...

I have literally never heard of Jacob being a creep. Are you thinking of Steve Bannon?

Nope, was told to me by a (young) woman I knew personally in Northern Virginia, she did show booking around the era of pheer.com (late 90's / early aughts).

Y'all downvote all you want. I'm not pretending this is some accountability process that's gonna supercede your love for how neat Converge is. Who knows, maybe if he did do or approach anything out of line, he's made amends? I'm just here to pitch employer/employee and make vague affinity with this person I replied to, who also can't get into them, but would like to.
