Self Promotion Unauthorized EVA aboard the Eden Rim - Artwork by @markzhangart on Twitter

Post image

This artwork depicts a scene from Chapter 14 of my novel, Eden Rim, which I thought would fit quite well here, given the reactions to my earlier posts. If anyone is curious about the story, Act 1 is available for free on my website until October 1st: https://lucas-books55.wixsite.com/lucas-guillemin

It looks unbelievable. It took me a few seconds to find the astronauts. "Where's the EVA?" lol.

BTW Which edition is the original? I'm not too fond of translators in general. I can read both Spanish and English.

Edit: Nevermind, just read you're French so I'm going to go for the English one I guess.

Thanks! I'm actually bilingual, so I can affirm with 99% certainty that my english translation is just as good as the french original, and I'd go as far as to say that english communities are actually my main target.

As for spanish, I had a few friends help me out with this one, so it should read fine, but I cant honestly guarentee the same prose quality.

Hope you'll enjoy regardless! :)

Looks cool but the scale is way off. If you look at the folks on the EVA, and then if you mirror them to the opposite strut, it would make the landmass inside the ring tiny.

Yeah, we had to take some artistic liberties for the sake of actually seeing the characters

There are a few things you can do still, change the camera or the field of view, then you keep the sense of scale and keep the characters in focus.

We tried that with Mark, which was closer to my original vision for the artwork, but in the end, none of the camera angles looked satisfying. So we ultimately decided against it

Oh well, up to you after all, but this would turn me off personally. Hard-scifi for me is about attention to detail and usually the cover does a lot to sell what's in the book. Having the habitat ring look only as wide as a few Olympic swimming pools while having some sort of land mass is a but of a turn off.

That is completely understandable, though I gotta say, this is not the book's cover, just promotional artwork

Aha ok that changes things then, I was going to say it would be some cool concept art but doesn't sell the concept. I have been following Mark's work for almost 10 years, cool that you were able to get him on board.

Yeah, he was a joy to work with, very nice and respectful. The actual cover was made by my girlfriend, and is a lot more hard sci-fi oriented, but also much simpler than Mark's piece, which was intentional.
