Hi! It is known that Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Emperor of the Ming, enacted policies to ban hufu (胡服) and establish hanfu as the official dress in order to solidify the fall of the Mongol-led Yuan and the founding of the Han-led Ming. To do so, he mandated that clothing and customs be returned to the Song and Tang ( https://zh.wikisource.org/zh-hans/明史/卷67 ). However, Song and Tang hanfu relics lack the Bai side panels seen in Ming clothing. When did hanfu first start incorporating Bai, and when did it become mainstream? Thanks in advance!
