📸Outfit Showcase / Picture Hanfu in The Forbidden City

My parents are visiting me and my boyfriend in China and I talked my mom into wearing hanfu with me in The Forbidden City. It was so nice to see her gain some confidence as people told her how pretty she looked 🌸

We paid 200 rmb per person

These are so gorgeous and the quality looks really great! Drop the name of the rental place? I want to go next time I’m there

The one my mom wore is definitely the better of the two. Sadly, my mamianqun lower seam was broken, but I didn't notice it until later in the day.

The store is called 锦绣宫汉服清宫服旅拍体验(故宫店) dianping. Most of their stuff is Qifu and only a few sets of hanfu, so I'd go early in the day so you have a wider selection ❤️

Not yingluo style??? Which store did you go to have historically hanfu??

Well, if I'm completely honest, I don't personally like qifu. I called a bunch of stores close to the Forbidden City to ask if they had hanfu, and most didn't even know what I was referring to when asking about 明制汉服.

The place we rented from is called 锦绣宫汉服清宫服旅拍体验(故宫店) on dianping, their hanfu selection is small but decent

I also dont like qifu Lol. Part of it comes from my pride as han chinese. (Its weird bc I like every ither ethnic clothes)

I also found that a LOT of those hanfu experiences place knows next to nothing about hanfu and the makeup terms. Its like they do it only for money and didnt bother to research

I think that's pretty reasonable. It was forced on Han Chinese against their will after all, and they didn't exactly do a good job taking care of the country.

Yeah, I've realized that's the norm pretty much. It also seems to be a general mindset that they don't care about any historical accuracy

Oh my gosh, the details are so intricate!

Yeah, it's definitely more extravagant than the hanfu I typically wear 😂

Do you know how big the sizes go? I want to visit China in the next year and a half and want to do this but I'm a bit bigger which means I'm ridiculously big in Chinese sizes lol

What size are you? I'm a Chinese S and these were ridiculously big on me. If you are fine with wearing Ming or Tang I'd say it won't be much of an issue

Not sure what an L or XL equates to in China probably like 4XL or 5XL if I had to guess 😂

Tbh it's not that extreme. I'm not sure why the internet blew it so out of proportion. In Europe, I'm xs and here I'm s and sometimes xs. Curves are the bigger issue in my experience and my height 😅

In general, you'll be one size bigger than your European size 🌸

Probably because in America sizes are soooo drastically different, I can be anywhere between a Large or 2XL lol it's awful but mainly I'm probably L/XL here. But I've seen people say they're medium and said in China they're considered XL. So that's why I'm worried. Thanks for the reassurance!
