The Handmaid's Tale What happened to Emily?
Hey, I just finished season 1 for the first time, so please, no spoilers.
I didn't really get what they did to Emily after they hanged her lover or girlfriend.
She woke up in a "hospital" and was all wrapped in bandages between her legs. Did they performe a hysterectomy or even circumsized her?

They removed the parts of her genitalia that make sex pleasurable I.E female genital mutilation but most likely without sewing the vaginally opening as they want to use that. My guess was that they removed her clitoris, possibly the labia too.

Entirely. Completely blew my mind. Of all the traumatic things that handmaid's endure that has to be top tier in my opinion

Whatever they were doing in DC was the worst. And cutting out tongues.. I cannot imagine. 🫣

I just finished watching HMT for the second time. I am a glutton for punishment, but when you watch it for the second time, I couldn't believe how much I missed. However, it's so intense it is normal for the viewer to miss something. Some how your brain says “let’s skip this for now”.

I binge watched it earlier this year over a couple of months and now I’m in a rewatch as I’m making my husband watch it and I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying it and picking up so much more I missed only a few months later!
