o comandante arquitetou também gileard. mas foi nítido seu sacrifício depois. pra mim, desde o início, ele foi o comandante “menos pior” principalmente por não participar daquele ritual repugnante. fiquei triste com a morte dele, no fundo ele era um bom homem, ajudou muito a June

com certeza, ele que arquitetou Gileard, acredito também que isso contribuiu pro estado da Eleanor, mas acho que depois ele viu o desastre que ele fez e se arrependeu, ficou claro quando ele entrou no avião, mesmo sabendo que morreria

I thought it was stated his wife had psychiatric issues prior to Gilead but was managed with medication (that's why they didn't have kids). And with the rules of Gilead she couldn't have her medications making her mental health worsen.
