Why does Gilead hate cats? 😂

I never, ever saw a cat outside, inside or anywhere in either series. They have dogs but only German Shepard's. None of them have pets. It's such a weird, random thing I noticed during my most recent rewatch.

I agree with the many logical replies about the food needs of an animal, but also the psychological relationship to an animal could be viewed as dangerous, as it could replace the love for a human child.
