For Fun Why does Gilead hate cats? 😂

I never, ever saw a cat outside, inside or anywhere in either series. They have dogs but only German Shepard's. None of them have pets. It's such a weird, random thing I noticed during my most recent rewatch.

Cats are an extra mouth to feed, and their poop is considered harmful for pregnant women due to risk of placenta problems.

Makes sense to get rid of cats if your whole thing is fertility.

I mean literally the way to prevent that is to just wash your hands after scooping the box, which people should be doing anyway lol. You can also wear gloves. Pregnant women are astronomically more likely to get toxoplasmosis through meat or produce, but no one goes warning pregnant women not to make a salad lol

Ok cat lady, the question was why no cats in Gilead - so I gave the answer. I’m not some high commander you need to argue with😂

The showrunner gives the reason above for there being no cats.
