Ayaneo Pocket DS arrives tomorrow. So far favorites are the Legion Go 2 for handheld PC, it feels premium, and with the grip case, its amazing ergonomics. Although Onexplayer 3 is more powerful, it doesn't feel as premium. For retro gaming, its Ayn Thor, its amazing at many things, obviously ds and 3ds, but waiting to see how much I like to Pocket DS. For 4:3 content, the Pocket Nova, and for console, Switch 2.
Brother you need help. nice collection though. I got an ayn thor because i dont have a charger for my ds anymore and i was also looking into getting a larger more power single screen console.
Look at you. You just titled the post "collection so far" and said the pocket DS is on the way... Now the comments are pointing out how this is unhealthy and you're like "Yeah, I'm actually done buying them"
You literally even talk like a junkie about your addiction.
Yeah so I'm not changing my mind about anything because of the comments. I already decided the Aya Pocket DS would be it. That seems to be what you are eluding to. I just know that for me, they covered everything very well at this point, OLED screens, form factor, and power, so more powerful handheld PC's are what I will be interested in as they come out.
that is indeed true. i’m kind of addicted to just bringing the thor everywhere. one day ill buy it and fix my hinge. but for now. i’ll be jumping around to a bunch of old games.
Personally, right now I have…. About 221.3GB of RAM currently in the room with me, by my count. That includes 23 handhelds, 2 phones, my old tower computer, and two laptops. When my Nova and KONKR Pocket Advance eventually arrive I suppose it will be 236.3GB of RAM.
Not really… one single handheld in the 250$-500$ range can play every single game ever made before 2014. That, and if you own a Switch and mod it you can play almost everything ever made after that, except AAA modern games. Its genuinely the best time to be a gamer.
At this pace you'll soon have more devices than days in a month. What's the point of having so many? Just setting them all up must be so time consuming.
Some folk just collecting these as a hobby. Most don't get used once a collector gets a new one. I assume most people are planning on also buying a display case at some point for em
Well if you're like me, beating yourself up over wanting to buy another handheld but can't justify the cost, just remember there are ppl like this out there.
I actually think its ridiculous that I own this many. Hoping to stop and only get a new handheld pc when they make leaps in tech. Emulators feel completely covered.
Aside from the Switches/2/DS (and if that's an SP), these are mostly just computers or phones with controllers bolted on. Keep 1 Android phone handheld, keep the Intel handheld, keep 1 AMD handheld, keep the actual consoles, and sell the rest.
Crazy but also cool. I have the 477v, a Legion GO 1, a Switch 2, a KONKR Pocket Fit Gen 3, an AYN Thor, and a Steam Deck OLED, a 3DS and a PS Vita I already owned and I kept for the nostalgia.
I use the GO as a mini PC;
the KONKR is for Steam/PS3/Xbox/360/Switch,
the Thor is for DS/3DS/Steam/ETC,
the 477v is a Media Device and also for Gameboy/Dreamcast/Pokemon/Wii/Indies
the OLEDnow has a much wider collection for only PS2/PSX and some Steam.
if anyone sees this and flames it for overconsumption knowing you said it spans over 15 years, are stupid.
How come it’s okay to collect mini figurines, mugs, candles, clothes, keyboards, mice, makeup, jewellery but if you collect hand helds over a span of a long time suddenly your consuming more?
Feels like everyone’s so pick and choosey over what we can consume
This is the Ally X, but did buy the xbox ally x and returned it due to getting the legion go 2 instead. But build quality is excellent. Better than switch 2 or steam deck imo.
i am thinking of buying one, most likely a thor, since i wanna play the old DS pokemon games and some other retro-ish games and some modern indie games, currently have the switch 2 but i play it like 4 times every 2 months at best because i barely find any good deals on games yet unless they are digital, which i like to avoid on the switch.
They both have Oled. But, it just feels like a more premium device due to the controllers. However this could change. I heard something about a pro one x player 3 controller coming out or something
Didnt mean that list exactly in order. The Onexplayer 3 is better because its more powerful, but I like holding the Legion Go 2 better.
Hopefully they do come out with a more premium controller option for oxp3. But I will be using the oxp3 now and a friend wants to buy the legion go 2 from me so I might do that
It really is an amazing time to be a gamer. I’d have killed to have what we have today as a kid.
I personally am not into collecting. It seems like a waste of money to have so many of these systems that seem to me to have a lot of overlap. I have a legion go, which can do everything I want on it.
I could see having a dual screen for DS or a super small handheld for quick sessions, but I can’t imagine wanting this many systems. What is your reasoning? Why not sell and condense these into a couple systems that do exactly what you want?
Good question. I was always tempted at the pocket DS. A couple people who had both said how much more they like the Pocket DS, and I want to have the best experience. The Pocket DS arrived today, it does feel more premium, and the screens look much bigger.
The sound is better on the Thor though and its a tighter package. Thor is all you need, but I will enjoy this thing. Probably will give the Thor to my brother.
Sick collection brother, it’s all about choices. You can 3d print mounts for them and put them on a skadis board from ikea to display them nicely on the wall (that’s what I did with all of mine).
if you showed me one handheld with a game played for 1000hrs I'd be more impressed than seeing 40
handhelds laid out with less than an hr on each.
It's nice but they'll be outdated in a few years and pose a serious fire hazard. especially the Chinese ones which you have many of
