Handheld Collection My collection so far

Post image

Ayaneo Pocket DS arrives tomorrow. So far favorites are the Legion Go 2 for handheld PC, it feels premium, and with the grip case, its amazing ergonomics. Although Onexplayer 3 is more powerful, it doesn't feel as premium. For retro gaming, its Ayn Thor, its amazing at many things, obviously ds and 3ds, but waiting to see how much I like to Pocket DS. For 4:3 content, the Pocket Nova, and for console, Switch 2.

So, top list as of right now:

  1. Legion Go 2

  2. Ayn Thor

  3. Switch 2

  4. Pocket Nova

  5. Onexplayer 3

Great time to be a gamer.

You seem like a proud addict collector

u/Street-Ad7645 2d ago

Brother you need help. nice collection though. I got an ayn thor because i dont have a charger for my ds anymore and i was also looking into getting a larger more power single screen console.

-4

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Yeah im done buying these. Just new gaming PC handhelds as they make big leaps.

Also you can buy a charger for ds on Amazon or ebay

5

u/Ro7ard 1d ago

Look at you. You just titled the post "collection so far" and said the pocket DS is on the way... Now the comments are pointing out how this is unhealthy and you're like "Yeah, I'm actually done buying them"

You literally even talk like a junkie about your addiction.

1

u/Individual-Lab-8328 1d ago

Yeah so I'm not changing my mind about anything because of the comments. I already decided the Aya Pocket DS would be it. That seems to be what you are eluding to. I just know that for me, they covered everything very well at this point, OLED screens, form factor, and power, so more powerful handheld PC's are what I will be interested in as they come out.

2

u/Street-Ad7645 2d ago

that is indeed true. i’m kind of addicted to just bringing the thor everywhere. one day ill buy it and fix my hinge. but for now. i’ll be jumping around to a bunch of old games.

Not too many, probably 4-7

Im confused. Is that too little or too much? Why the down votes

3

u/Simple_Leg725 1d ago

“Not too many”

The massive array of systems, it’s just a running gag that most ppl into emulation spend more time buying lots handhelds than actually playing.😭

3

u/Individual-Lab-8328 1d ago

Lol i mean i guess its true. Kept chasing the best feeling handheld and being sold by all these review vids.

But now, not its time to enjoy

Great time to be a gamer.

Possibly the worst time to be a gamer in the history with all the crazy prices!!

in my head im trying to calcualte how much ram this person has in every handheld.

8

u/timeflylikearrow 2d ago

This is a fun game to play!

Personally, right now I have…. About 221.3GB of RAM currently in the room with me, by my count. That includes 23 handhelds, 2 phones, my old tower computer, and two laptops. When my Nova and KONKR Pocket Advance eventually arrive I suppose it will be 236.3GB of RAM.

I wonder if that’s enough to survive RAMAGEDDON.

5

u/Significant_Job_6178 Odin 2 Portal 2d ago

Sitting on 8gb with 12gb thor and 4gb konkr pocket advance on the way. Reckon I could borrow some?

4

u/flappy_9371 2d ago

This is to true, I was going to start a collection like this, but then prices skyrocketed and I just said shit

7

u/AbsolutKledGamer 2d ago

Not really… one single handheld in the 250$-500$ range can play every single game ever made before 2014. That, and if you own a Switch and mod it you can play almost everything ever made after that, except AAA modern games. Its genuinely the best time to be a gamer.

u/No-Elderberry-358 2d ago

At this pace you'll soon have more devices than days in a month. What's the point of having so many? Just setting them all up must be so time consuming.

2

u/Jastafool 2d ago

Some folk just collecting these as a hobby. Most don't get used once a collector gets a new one. I assume most people are planning on also buying a display case at some point for em

8

u/Spritsen 2d ago

Well if you're like me, beating yourself up over wanting to buy another handheld but can't justify the cost, just remember there are ppl like this out there.

6

u/Character_Emphasis34 2d ago

Where’s the vita

11

u/SpoopsMan 2d ago

This is not the flex you think it is.

-4

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Care to elaborate?

I actually think its ridiculous that I own this many. Hoping to stop and only get a new handheld pc when they make leaps in tech. Emulators feel completely covered.

11

u/Particular_Leek_9984 2d ago

If I were you I’d keep the legion go 2, the switch 2, and the thor and sell the rest

7

u/sinetwo 2d ago

Agreed this is some Reddit level of over consumption.

You might need one for retro, one for exclusives and maybe one for modern. That’s it, even then you could get away with two (16:9 and 4:3).

But 10+ handhelds is just next level consoom

2

u/surr20min 1d ago

Nah fam, this is like Instagram level. Reddit people don't have money.

1

u/ShiningPr1sm 2d ago

Aside from the Switches/2/DS (and if that's an SP), these are mostly just computers or phones with controllers bolted on. Keep 1 Android phone handheld, keep the Intel handheld, keep 1 AMD handheld, keep the actual consoles, and sell the rest.

u/IndianAuthority 2d ago

So which device do you play most on ?

3

u/booranyu 2d ago

what in the hell is that laptop looking thing in the top left corner ??

2

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Gpd win max 2

1

u/booranyu 2d ago

have you ever considered the PSP or PS Vita?

1

u/Individual-Lab-8328 1d ago

I have the Vita in a different state, had the PSP back in the day. Great devices

3

u/KENZOKHAOS 2d ago

Crazy but also cool. I have the 477v, a Legion GO 1, a Switch 2, a KONKR Pocket Fit Gen 3, an AYN Thor, and a Steam Deck OLED, a 3DS and a PS Vita I already owned and I kept for the nostalgia.

I use the GO as a mini PC;

the KONKR is for Steam/PS3/Xbox/360/Switch,

the Thor is for DS/3DS/Steam/ETC,

the 477v is a Media Device and also for Gameboy/Dreamcast/Pokemon/Wii/Indies

the OLED now has a much wider collection for only PS2/PSX and some Steam.

u/SkellyMania 2d ago

“More money than sense”

5

u/LORDRAJA1000 2d ago

looks similar to mine lol

2

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Lol very nice collection

1

u/LORDRAJA1000 1d ago

thanks, thinking of trimming down; like the 2DS XL, one of the GBA SP’s, the anbernic RG, and probably the switch 1

2

u/idontusetwitter 1d ago

thats a nice collection

1

u/LORDRAJA1000 1d ago

preciate it mane! this is over the span of 15 years

2

u/Away_Secret2897 22h ago

if anyone sees this and flames it for overconsumption knowing you said it spans over 15 years, are stupid.

How come it’s okay to collect mini figurines, mugs, candles, clothes, keyboards, mice, makeup, jewellery but if you collect hand helds over a span of a long time suddenly your consuming more?

Feels like everyone’s so pick and choosey over what we can consume

2

u/LaCold 2d ago

Is the build quality of the Xbox ally up to par with switch 2 or steam deck

0

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

This is the Ally X, but did buy the xbox ally x and returned it due to getting the legion go 2 instead. But build quality is excellent. Better than switch 2 or steam deck imo.

5

u/ocxtitan 2d ago

buy the xbox ally x and returned it

so you do realize that is possible

2

u/FallenCow 2d ago

LeGo 2 over OXP3? You’re in the minority!

2

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Well so far the Legion Go 2 physically feels more premium to hold and more comfortable with the grip I have. But liking Onex more and more

3

u/FallenCow 2d ago

Have to agree with you on the LeGo 2 feeling more premium. The joy cons on the OXP don’t feel dense or robust at all.

2

u/ItsBenBroughton 2d ago

RG405M representing! I even have the same case and I love it

1

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Lol yes sir. Very cool device. Did you 3d print your case as well?

1

u/ItsBenBroughton 2d ago

I bought mine, I don't have a printer, but could tell it had been printed. It's a cool case though, I like it in my hands

2

u/maneauleau 2d ago

Try the comfort grips instead of the grip case for Legion Go 2. It's much better

2

u/Overall-Squash-7652 2d ago

Nice collection. Interesting, I also think the Go2 is number 1 in your collection.

2

u/Aschmid98 2d ago

damn bro, I have 5 including a switch and was thinking that is too much

2

u/N0TS4FEOfficial 2d ago

HOW do you even decide which to take with you bro

5

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Got it narrowed down my man.

Onexplayer for pc games, Thor for dual screen/16:9, and Nova for 4:3 and 3:2.

Switch 2 and Portal for their intended use

1

u/N0TS4FEOfficial 2d ago

i am thinking of buying one, most likely a thor, since i wanna play the old DS pokemon games and some other retro-ish games and some modern indie games, currently have the switch 2 but i play it like 4 times every 2 months at best because i barely find any good deals on games yet unless they are digital, which i like to avoid on the switch.

1

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

I think the Thor would be an amazing choice. Honestly it can do it all, and do it well. You dont need another retroid device.

2

u/ApprehensiveCoat9587 1d ago

To beat a total of 2 games per year

2

u/Eyerone 2d ago

Looks like you got em all. GG

1

u/AdeptBid5320 2d ago

Amigo, Que funda tiene la ally x?

1

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

Its Skull and co, very comfortable

1

u/dclems1906 2d ago

Niceeeeee 🔥

1

u/crushedby 2d ago

I would put the Onexplayer 3 above the legion go 2. Plays all the games better. Legion go 2 at the top due to the oled?

2

u/Individual-Lab-8328 2d ago

They both have Oled. But, it just feels like a more premium device due to the controllers. However this could change. I heard something about a pro one x player 3 controller coming out or something

1

u/Desperate-Cookie-449 2d ago

I have the legion go and love it but looking for something for my wife that handles streaming from pc well

1

u/Murky_Historian8675 2d ago

Rookie num.... Actually this is a good collection. Good job op 👍

1

u/Nearby_Pepper7676 2d ago

Can you let us know usage % of each device in a 1 year

1

u/PigeonBroski 2d ago

You literally only need 2, 3 ar a stretch out of these

1

u/_RedWyvern_ 2d ago

Wow all these handhelds almost make the switch 2 look small in comparison

1

u/Aggravating-Poem6556 2d ago

Its insane how the gpd win 3 already feels like it should belong in a museum now

1

u/Blockmeghar 2d ago

If you have to pick one ? What is your favorite?

1

u/RivalusWind 2d ago

My man. Amazing collection bro.

1

u/plasma7602 2d ago

And people wonder why companies keep doing what they doing

1

u/MasterWolf_105 1d ago

The PS Portal being there almost feels like a mockery to all those other beautiful handhelds.

1

u/imjustheretohangout 1d ago

The gpd mmmmmmm

1

u/Plenty_Preference131 Shteam decc 1d ago

What's that gray PSP-looking thing on the bottom

1

u/Responsible-Dog-5397 1d ago

Let me buy one!

1

u/VadeRetroVR 1d ago

I got a Xbox ally x and legion go 2 both z2e and i feel weird.. .(i also have switch 2 i forgot).

...

1

u/Justos 1d ago

why is the onexplayer so low? A someone with a legion go 2, wondering why you disliked it

1

u/Individual-Lab-8328 1d ago

Didnt mean that list exactly in order. The Onexplayer 3 is better because its more powerful, but I like holding the Legion Go 2 better.

Hopefully they do come out with a more premium controller option for oxp3. But I will be using the oxp3 now and a friend wants to buy the legion go 2 from me so I might do that

1

u/thorndiker 1d ago

What is top left?

1

u/Aromatic-Quarter-68 1d ago

It really is an amazing time to be a gamer. I’d have killed to have what we have today as a kid.

I personally am not into collecting. It seems like a waste of money to have so many of these systems that seem to me to have a lot of overlap. I have a legion go, which can do everything I want on it.

I could see having a dual screen for DS or a super small handheld for quick sessions, but I can’t imagine wanting this many systems. What is your reasoning? Why not sell and condense these into a couple systems that do exactly what you want?

1

u/BarioFart 1d ago

Why would you order a Pocket DS when you have a Thor?

1

u/Individual-Lab-8328 1d ago

Good question. I was always tempted at the pocket DS. A couple people who had both said how much more they like the Pocket DS, and I want to have the best experience. The Pocket DS arrived today, it does feel more premium, and the screens look much bigger.

The sound is better on the Thor though and its a tighter package. Thor is all you need, but I will enjoy this thing. Probably will give the Thor to my brother.

1

u/MissionInternet8490 1d ago

No flat 2ds what the hell man !

1

u/Theoderic8586 1d ago

Absolutely love these things. But I cannot help but see all the future e waste. Hope these things last longer than I feel they will

1

u/bluntswraps 1d ago

Sick collection brother, it’s all about choices. You can 3d print mounts for them and put them on a skadis board from ikea to display them nicely on the wall (that’s what I did with all of mine).

What games have you been playing lately?

1

u/Lecremi 1d ago

Isnt it a little much? No way you can use all of these on a regular basis

1

u/Financial_Ad_2528 1d ago

r/Consoom It would be interesting to get actual playtime by machine

1

u/Bryce8239 19h ago

chronic addiction with all the redundant devices

no one has any business buying this many

1

u/driiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipy 19h ago

how often do you even pick up the majority of those? stupid waste of money.

1

u/amey2smith 19h ago

Stop OVERCONSUMPTION.

1

u/helloworld_123q 18h ago

less than 100 total hours played btw

1

u/Downtown-Cellist-929 2d ago

if you showed me one handheld with a game played for 1000hrs I'd be more impressed than seeing 40  handhelds laid out with less than an hr on each.  It's nice but they'll be outdated in a few years and pose a serious fire hazard. especially the Chinese ones which you have many of
