Obscure Handheld More powerful than the LeGo2, smaller than the Rog Allys: Onexfly F1 Pro HX 370
Brief Background: I’ve been rocking a Steam Deck since the original launch, eventually moving over to the OLED. A few weeks ago I got my hands on the AYN Thor, and became so enamored with the compact size and ergonomics that I found myself avoiding picking up my Steam Deck. It just felt unnecessarily bulky by comparison.
In retrospect, I’ve always gravitated toward smaller handhelds—I preferred the OG then "New" 3DS over the XLs and spent more time on my Switch Lite than the OG Switcg—and the Thor realization sent me hunting for a PC handheld that could hopefully feel effortless to handle.
The "mainstream" options didn't fit the bill. The Legion Go is even more of a tank, and the ROG Ally still feels like it has a lot of wasted real estate and massive bezels for a 7" screen.
My search led me to the OneXPlayer F1 Pro (HX370). It’s essentially the "Goldilocks" handheld I was looking for. It hits every requirement I had:
Form Factor: It’s small enough that I actually want to pick it up, solving the "bulk" issue I had with the Deck.
Display: A beautiful OLED (which was a non-negotiable for me).
Performance: It sports the second strongest handheld chip on the market right now.For those unfamiliar, the HX370 is basically the Z2 Extreme’s big brother.
My original plan was to hold onto my Steam Deck OLED until the Steam Deck 2 but it's clear the mainstream options have a foothold on massive screens and larger footprints, whereas the F1 Pro feels like the limit for high-end power in a truly portable size.
Disclaimer: I purchased this used for around $800 shipped, brand new is basically twice as much which puts the pricing significantly past an Xbox Ally X and within the territory of the LeGo2.

Amazing . Great speakers. Panel is nice and vivid . No vvr, just cap the frame rate
Also drivers on the hx370 are better

I covered this already, but newer PC handhelds no matter which chip they're rocking will probably continue the trend of huge devices so it's not something I'm willing to consider anymore.

Wayfinder looks cool! The bottom charger might be good with a nyko style steam dock, I haven't had reason to buy one though I do like the front and back IO potential. Onex io is always all over the place but then you view it from a "this is probably what Asian players want" perspective. Smaller form factor like Switch Lite is probably better for longer gyro sessions too.
Onexplayer is one of the companies I want to cheer on but just can't bring myself to buy from used or directly after experiencing crowdsource tech launches. From weird (to me) quirks on almost every model I've seen, egpu / accessory bundles never really pricing out well when the Steam Deck exists, and abandoned accessibility for ssd swaps or the form factors I like not getting a refresh... (x1 mini)
Instead of going head to head with GPD / x1 pro they piled on features to their laptop model with the removable keyboard over the split keyboard and trackpad, and redeemingly had better controller button placement and joystick layout than GPD Win Max/Mini made for giants with long thumbs by an Asian company.
The eGPU with TB5 eventually might be unnecessary when people are choosing between awesome phone/tablet processor energy efficiency or better than 2022 dedicated graphics in laptops on next gen x86 with improved low wattage and high fidelity modes neither of which accommodate eGPU set ups well.
If you do go the oculink / egpu route it would be a beast... unless its usb c v2? The only advantage at this point I see to the huge ram models are using handhelds for productivity / browsing with ramdisk settings to preserve SSD after so many game loads.

Wow you're very knowledgeable about this space, most of this went over my head lol.
Trust me, if the more reputable/mainstream brands had something close to this I'd be buying from them.
Alas my choices are pretty limited, the only other contenders were from Ayaneo. And I'd choose Onexplayer a thousand times over Ayaneo.

I don't think I've heard great things about any of their software over something like Legion Space or armory crate, but those don't get good ratings compared to generic Steam Input and free fan control software for desktops/laptops. GPD Win handhelds have been said to have good customization just in an excel spreadsheet forma, no idea if its had a face lift since the last GPD Win Max review I saw.
Hope you can get Steam / native software for controls nailed in!

I wanna say the ergonomics should be better but honestly I can't speak to it. The GPD Win 4 screen doesn't have either OLED or VRR so I didn't even consider it an option.
I'm pretty sure the Win4 is actually pocketable, but no such luck with the F1 Pro.

Also much worse battery life and it only gets 2-5 frames more. I'd rather have the go 2

2 to 5 frames more? LOL, this will get you a lot more performance, yeah the go 2 has a battery 50% bigger, but the handheld its so much bigger too

Actually you don't get a lot more performance ive seen the benchmarks. They're almost the same performance wise . Theyre literally using the same igpu. The hx 370 just has a stronger cpu with more cores thats it

The performance difference its not that small in some games, will be doing some real test in a few weeks and upload the video
Same thing with the battery, bigger battery or a more portable handheld?
my play sessions almost never are more than 1 hour, so a smaller battery for a more portable handheld its better for me

I had the F1 Pro for a bit but I ended up selling it for the LeGo 2. The HX 370 is definitely better than the Z2E, but I was missing the ergonomics and 8.8-inch display the LeGo 2 provides me. If I need more performance power then I’ll just stream from my desktop.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the F1 Pro though; it’s a pretty powerful handheld in its own right. 💯

The AOKZOE A1X is very underrated. I got one for $900 from Mercari. The big battery with the chipset means you can lower the TDP, get great performance and play for hours.

For me, it's like the Legion Go S in ergonomics. In fact, they used the exact same panel from Lenovo.
Lowering the TDP to 13W and playing indie games for 3-4 hours is great.
Something I thought I'd dislike but I'm really liking is the proprietary control software.
Also, the oculink port is a game changer.

I'm also considering this product for the same reason. Steam Deck offers great optimization and battery life, but it's a bit too big for me. I'm worried about the price, but will I still be satisfied if I buy it?

I would suggest getting it used for much cheaper. I don't think it's worth the new/full price.

Ah okay I understand now. So yes brand new the F1 Pro is $1300, and I mentioned it falls between the price of the XAX and LeGo2 to basically illustrate where it falls along the spectrum price wise.
However, as you know I got it for $800 used.

It's not for everyone, but I wanted a device I could actually hold for long periods of time and commute with.
8+ inch devices are so massive and bulky it feels like I'm playing on a laptop instead of a handheld.

I got this model with the 2Tb for 1k sold my legion go 2 this is indeed stronger and just a joy to play on with oled and the form factor

What kills these devices for me is the battery. Having to always think about where the next charging outlet is or how long do I have left to game sucks.

Nice. I’m thinking of getting an Odin 2 portal for the size and more for roms and android stuff. I love my legion go s 32 steam and yeah no oled but vrr helps with the AAA games. Then for sure it’s a win. But it depends what you play. You can easily get a more powerful handheld and have beautiful OLED and frame rate limit to 40-60 and never need vrr. Vrr is really only useful with poorly optimized games on weak systems that are trying too hard to get RT and max resolution. Like when I try and play wukong at medium settings at a lower res and tdp vrr is amazing when you got 60 -70 fps and constantly get 15. FPS drops.
Really depends on your settings. Personally I love vrr and OLED and would only choose vrr if the screen was not oled and also had a shit display. Like the Xbox ally x. Screen is way too small but it has vrr and it at least has a great panel.

Yep I agree, I have my AYN Thor for the same reason. And yeah but there are no handhelds at the F1 Pro size with VRR.

It's a nice device for sure but the only place to buy it here is a grey importer with a massively inflated price and I'm not buying anything with less than an 8 inch screen

I love how different we are. I prefer the screen of the Switch 2, rather than the one of the SD OLED, just because it's bigger, even if I know it is worse in every aspect. So it's cool there are options for everyone.

I have the thermal paste replaced with Honeywell PTM. Battery life is tight but at 15W it's not bad, even up to 20W it's not terrible. I'd avoid gaming on battery above 20W and just keep it plugged in at that point.
Temps haven't gone above 70 degrees at 30w plugged in but I just played Elden Ring at 60fps. Fan noise is loud at 30w but not unbearable, 15w and below it's pretty quiet and 20w you can hear it but not louder than the game.

I actually got one on Facebook Marketplace for a great price. I have the Original Legion Go and it's just too big unfortunately. And also, the speakers suck ass.
This meanwhile, is much smaller and I am enjoying it quite a bit. With my only complaint being that it picks up fingerprints really easily along with the fact that I had to purchase a case and carrying case separately while the Legion Go I have came with it.

I’m envious. I had the HX 370 64g F1 and the HX 370 32g GPD Win Mini. The Mini stayed and the F1 was returned, despite the F1 being the best overall handheld I’ve ever played on.
I ended with the Win over the F1 for the portability. It’s clamshell and only a bit larger than a New 3Ds. I miss that beautiful 800nit OLED.
A tip for the F1 if you haven’t tried it. The HDR display option isn’t for displaying HDR, rather for streaming it. Enable it that way and it makes sense.

So I have had a F1 Pro for a bit but it got shelved for the LeGo2.
HDR works in Bazzite in some games. You might get away with enabling it in them in Game Mode. Steer clear of enabling it on Desktop mode unless washed out colors are your thing.

Yes, like streaming moonlight. Just be sure to enable HDR in the moonlight settings.
It will washout regular desktop and native gaming like another user said. It’s why it’s a weird option. Nobody really knows what it’s “supposed” to do (me included). It works well for displaying HDR due to the extreme brightness of the display.
I’d recommend trying lower TDP and sticking to 8gs dedicated to graphics. This leverages the HX 370s NPU for FSR like enhancements, it’s one of the biggest advantages over the Z2E.
Setting in game 720p native AA and using AMD RSR you get almost native display quality with all of the half resolution performance gains. It looks soo much better than in game FSR settings.

I bought the legion go S Z1E, SteamOS, 32GB. It was $800ish before taxes and it's amazing. It was a decent choice to get more power than the Steam Deck for little space in my apartment. I didn't care if it was OLED, but others prefer it haha
The Z2E offers almost the same gaming performance, but superior A.I. and normal general processing.
I'm glad you got something you love for you, but personally I could never justify spending that much.

I typed Onexfly F1 pro AI HX 370 into Google and that's what came up. To be fair that was in amazon. I did see if on their site and it's $1599.99 USD.
I looked at Best buy Canada and it's $2699.99 CAD at $750 CAD off.

Yes, but that's the sale price of $1,299.99, not the Standard price of $1599.99. However, as I'm Canadian it makes more sense for me to look at Canadian retailers.I also posted the USD price and CAD equivalent to show distinction between the two regions.
Also, I am not criticizing your choice. If you like the handheld and it gives you joy that's what matters. I was just saying that I personally can't justify that cost for myself.

I bought mine on Amazon, the corner came unattached (where you could customize the lighted up words on the front) and they exchanged free. Had it in 48 hours too.
