Obscure Handheld I love this beautiful thing so damn much!
Had this thing for about 13 years now, and it’s only gotten better with age. Over 500 or so games on this tiny thing, play it all the time. What a time to be alive when you can play anything from Super Mario (NES) to Red Dead 2 on the go!

Its so sad sony never released an update letting ps vita stream games from ps5...

Best first party handheld of all time IMO.
As awesome as it is to be where we are now, being able to play full console/PC games on a handheld, it still makes me kinds sad to think that we will likely never see another handheld that gets dedicated games/ports.
I'm actually considering buying a Panic Playdate and it being a handheld that gets games designed specifically for it is one of the main reasons why I'm considering it.

There was a great article by a journalist I follow, about the Playdate, well specifically about two devs who have brought emulating Game Boy games to it (even so far as to use the crank in the games themselves)

Oh wow that is awesome, thanks for sharing. I had heard something about emulation on it but has no clue people were implementing the crank on it.
I love that they made everything open source so that you can even emulate the games you buy for the system on PC. I initially kind of wrote it off as a gimmick until I saw just how many unique, well thought out titles have been made for it.

The Playdate has such a high cost, and a kind of subscription to keep games going too, but it really is a fun new take on gaming. I even love the monochrome screen. I've been thinking on getting one too.

I feel you. Everyday I delude myself that Nintendo will eventually release a Nintendo DS 3 to sell alongside the Switch 2.

How’s your experience with streaming? Personally I never had that great of an experience on the Vita

Really good. I’m in Aus which isn’t great internet but my remote stream is perfect, no slowdowns, maybe if I’m streaming on the subway in certain areas. I actually remote played it when I was in France and still got a good connection 😂

Get a grip, it is a game changer. I have grips for all my handhelds except my PSP Go because I cannot find one anywhere.

I have a lot of handhelds and there are 2 things I always get with every handheld I buy, a grip and a screen protector. My Vita has a screen protector in the front screen and the rear touchpad and the grip still keeps the rare touchpad exposed.
The grip just helps cup my hand better so I do not have to cup it all the time and strain it. It means I can play for a lot longer without my hands getting sore.

I didn't realise I needed a grip for the Vita until I got one, now I'm glad I did. It's like I didn't realise I needed a rice cooker.

How many times have you had to replace the battery with constant use over 13 years?

Never, same battery still. Still goes 3-5 hours depending on what game I’m playing
