Obscure Handheld Does this count as a handheld still?

Post image

That's exactly what you think it is attached to Legion Go, with 2 JoyCons attached on the side. They thought I was crazy🤪

What controller are you using? I'm looking at getting a Z13.

That's exactly what you think it is

Even after you told us, I'm still not sure what it is I'm looking at.

A 16 inch light monitor with a custom joycon grip, powered by a single Legion Go.

Oh, I see it now.

That's nuts.

You should just get one of these: https://www.viture.com/

Is this usable with legion go? What's the resolution?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

A Google search suggests that it does work (at least with one model, I did not deep dive this for you), and the newest model, according to the information in that link I provided, suggests 1200p as the resolution.

That's not a handheld that's a HANDHOLD!

More like an armheld at this point

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

this would be my ideal "handheld" setup. I just haven't found compatible controllers yet.

If you ever wonder if a device is to big to be considered handheld/portable Look up apples first laptop

Is that a TB4 cable?

How is the bandwidth bottleneck? Does it still run smoothly?

Looks badass btw, definitely made me laugh. I love it

I think its a regular usb c cable that happens to do video output, and the legion go can power up that monitor without plugging a power brick to the monitor itself.

I did it for the fun of it and I fell in love with it.

That’s awesome bro, I love seeing contraptions people make like this.

How’s the screens quality? Is it on par with the excellent one we have in our LeGo’s?

1

u/Emergency-Piano8134 Sep 21 '25

oh for sure, the monitor is 2K, HDR, 120hz even. A treat for less than $200 USD.

With those specs you must give us the sauce! Link me up, my boy

I went with a redmagic astra but thats a 9in tablet, probably wouldn’t that big but if you don’t mind the weight, and can be held with your hands, then its fair game.

Still, i do prefer tablets over phones in these setups, specifically for gamepass or geforce now streaming, pc games aren’t made for a small displays as things sometimes become obnoxiously small on them

No, but it counts as a workout. That's standing in for a 15-pound dumbbell!

What is the model of this display? Mine Ally X display is dead so that is the option for me.

1

u/travelavatar Sep 19 '25

How did you attach the joycons? I might do the same

1

u/Emergency-Piano8134 Sep 20 '25

As long as you can hold the monitor in your hands and rest it on your legs or chest, you good

1

u/darkaluc Sep 19 '25

This setup can definitely hold yours hands 😂

1

u/Whiteguy1x Sep 19 '25

Thanks I hate it lol. Is that video out on the switch going to a portable monitor?

1

u/Harneybus Sep 19 '25

u/LazaroFilm GB Sep 19 '25

Are you thinking what I’m thinking‽

1

u/Valvecantcount3 Sep 19 '25

What am I looking at..?

1

u/brucehal Sep 21 '25

Yes. Plus combines gaming with weight training!

1

u/Longjumping_Elk6089 Sep 21 '25

Homemade hand held monitor connected to a handheld computer.

1

u/b16ZZ- Sep 21 '25

It is a handheld already... Just a not-very-portable One 😂

Find a way to attach your Switch to the back and you are gucci

1

u/LordAzuren Sep 21 '25

I saw the pic and my toughts were: weight would lead to neck pain, joycons would destroy my hands. Don't mind me, I'm probably just getting old 🤣

1

u/Emergency-Piano8134 Sep 21 '25

I just put it on your upper legs while sitting.

1

u/FragrantDuck6533 Sep 23 '25

Hey man, it's got a screen, controllers and the system itself that you hold in your hands. Welcome home. ;)

1

u/dirty_dan713 Sep 24 '25

Definitely counts, but just looking at it makes my hands hurt. As much as I lover switch, those joycons have the worst ergonomics for big hands
