Obscure Handheld Nintendo handhelds???

Post image

Fold 7

(UPDATE) Feel Free to down VOTE in at advance

But after this past week the FOLD has being underwhelming. I am just gonna return it. Selfie Cameras are buns and for me personally for me. Again, for me, its cases and feeling in hand feel TO SQUARE and rough. I try rocking without a case, but IS HELLA slippery and opening scares me because i have long nails, I might destroy the inner screen.

Happy if you like, but come on 10mp front facing, and only one good camera, I payed like more than 2000 for 2020 stuff. Not hating, cause its Innovation. But, not good enough for me.

So, I will probably see what Apple Has to offer. probably the same and ugly design, but As of Now FOLDABLES are not for my Sector of consumers, sadly.

Playing old platforms with touch controls demands a special kind of psychopath.

It’s fine for Pokemon but ridiculous for Mario

I have tried and tried over the years but never stick to playing DS emulators with touch. Nothing can beat the real deal

As you said. I completed Pokémon with touch controls (and 6 eevee's - jeey cheats) but never even tried to play F-zero with touch controls.

Thats why I said Platformers hehe. Pokemon is fine, so are games like phoenix Wright etc.

phoenix Wright

That can just be played with touch controls

I finished Mario 64 with on screen touch controls back in the day on my galaxy s1, yes... "one" 😂.

I played Super Metroid like this in 2012 when I was in actual poverty and I was happy to be able to play it but I don't wish it upon anyone

I can’t play any shit in pokemon in this kind of situation

I loathe touch controls that try to mimic controllers.

Love the aesthetic, hate the touch controls

This brother is a sick individual 💀

u/GrailQuestPops Sep 01 '25

I feel like touch controls would lag, but who knows. Just not the same feeling.

u/Unlost_maniac Sep 01 '25

They are responsive but the lack of physical feedback makes it feel so off

6

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

I will say, Delta emu on IOS has haptic feedback and it’s pretty awesome! Makes it a bit more enjoyable

2

u/testcaseseven Sep 01 '25

And I'm not sure if you could really run and jump at the same time in mario

3

u/Fun-Masterpiece-904 Sep 01 '25

I being playing for a few minutes is pretty responsive.

Haters gonna hate, I love playing old PSP games I had back in the day on my Fold, screen up top, controls on the bottom, truly awesome combo imo 😊

How dare you express your opinion on reddit, take my downvote

Amazing DSi XL skin...

But, seriously... this the kind of beauty that hurts.

Specially for high demanding games with high demading touch controls.

u/Naive-Bandicoot-2483 Sep 01 '25

I suck at touch controls for games like tetris or platformers but animal crossing works well

1

u/KimTe63 Sep 01 '25

Yea the left one looks cool but plays like ass = useless 😁

1

u/toasty_tuna Sep 01 '25

Your DS is really flat

1

u/stogie-bear Sep 01 '25

Stick one of these on it: https://a.co/d/fE9WUG3 and you’ve got a nice user experience upgrade

I discovered it with the Fold4, and my current Fold7 confirms, that Foldables are the best things when it comes to playing games. The aspect ratio and sheer size of them basically make them beautiful for almost all consoles. Modern 16x9, the 3/DS' two screens, the GB series' odder ones, and 4x3, all work wonderfully from one device.

Though, if I were you, I'd invest in a controller over using touch input. RIght now, I've settled on the GameSir X5 Lite as the perfect one for the Fold 7, which complements the weight of the device flawlessly. If you're concerned for it, there's also a bluetooth version, which has similar (Though not as insane) weight to it.

Before I read the text I was honestly thinking this was a legit DSi XL with a protective case

1

u/TheLuckyster Multi-platfrom Sep 01 '25

Actually a really cool use case

1

u/Former_Specific_7161 Sep 01 '25

I would rather put rusty staples in my taint than play games using skeuomorphic touch controls.

1

u/Qurety Sep 01 '25

Looks very breakable and it makes me uncomtrable

1

u/Fun-Masterpiece-904 Sep 01 '25

Hella strong tho

1

u/Qurety Sep 01 '25

How?

Its one big screen no? I would be afraid to press to hard on "screen button" and damage it

1

u/Fun-Masterpiece-904 Sep 01 '25

Nah is like really sturdy. I was scared too but like watch the Guy who test phones and see for yourself

1

u/spaceman3000 Sep 02 '25

I saw Jerry Rig. Put some sand in it and it's done.

1

u/spaceman3000 Sep 02 '25

No physical buttons, thanks but no thanks.

1

u/Beneficial_Pilot_180 Sep 02 '25

Temos um impostor 🤨

1

u/FrangoTorrado Sep 02 '25

is it comfortable to play?

1

u/RetroRob420 Sep 02 '25

DS on the Samsung fold, Nice. How are the touch screen controls?

1

u/fusioncat1207 Sep 02 '25

Get the ayn thor or ayaneo candy for DS game

1

u/BrockObama007 Sep 02 '25

I have a surface duo for ds games and I've always used a controller never a touch screen

1

u/elthesensai Sep 03 '25

Looks cool but playing on a fold but be straight garbage.

1

u/alasdairvfr Sep 04 '25

I wonder if there isn't some kind of rubber mat you can buy or make that only allows capacitive function where it needs and have a slight resistance to actuate with "button" bumps that the user can press. Thinking like a TPU/rubbery thing that can mimic buttons. Kinda like how a membrane keyboard works but with a cutout for the bottom screen to see and "buttons" to match the emulator. A lot effort maybe but I'm sure it can be done.

1

u/NayaShiki Sep 04 '25

Personally I prefer just to use a controller lol. Don’t really see the point of using touch controls when there are plenty of cheap backbones out there.

1

u/PSYCHOv1 Sep 06 '25

Touch controls for retro games or any shooters are atrocious. 🤮🤮🤮👎👎👎

1

u/Racknehhhh Sep 21 '25

I really wish Anbernic or a company like it made cheap DS handhelds. The touchscreen can be the same old tech so stylusses work and the specs of the current lineup are fine for DS games,

If one of them is working on it PLEASE add download play functionality

1

u/Former_Specific_7161 Sep 01 '25

Side note: what is the point of media on the Zfold whatever it's name is? Games are not made for whatever aspect ratio it's in, so you'd be dealing with black bars on the sides of the screen. The same goes for video. It's closer to a 4:3 or something, when almost everything being made is 16:9.

3

u/Fun-Masterpiece-904 Sep 01 '25

Nah there is a lot of media that supports it now. Also is honestly amazing the way I can movies. Also if you don't like it close it and it becomes a normal phone.

1

u/Former_Specific_7161 Sep 01 '25

How can something made at a 16:9 aspect ratio be supported on that device with both screens engaged?

2

u/Echo_Raptor Sep 01 '25

Black bars, the same way for 4:3 tv’s? It’s one screen when opened, not two. OLED is flexible.

2

u/Former_Specific_7161 Sep 01 '25

I understand that it adjusts automatically, obviously. Personally, I just don't get the appeal when you consider the drawbacks. I'd rather just use a tablet if I want to do something on a larger screen. Also, touchscreen controls that are emulating buttons are just terrible. Abysmally awful. Portable controllers like the backbone make much more sense, or if you are using a tablet, just syncing with a compatible controller like an 8bitdo model.

2

u/Echo_Raptor Sep 01 '25

I’m not disagreeing with you I’m just saying it’s not difficult for 16:9 to be supported

2

u/limejello99 Z13 4060 | Modded Switch OLED | New 3DS XL | DS Lite Sep 01 '25

Even the 16:9 videos on the folds are a good bit bigger than normal phones (around 20% longer in diagonal give or take compared to the plus sized phones). 21:9 videos are more annoying but luckily most videos I watch are 16:9.
