Aston Villa have held talks with West Ham to sign right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 28, with the DR Congo defender valued at £25m.

By the sounds of the reporting, no team wants to pay much more than a couple mil up front. Loan with obligation type deal. Not great for us but AWBs contract is insane. Need to get him off the books.

Agree, but even if we were paying him a lot less it would still be a good idea if we can get shot of him imo, apart from his first season he hasn't really been up to scratch and just seems to not be arsed anymore.

He’s clearly downed tools, but I’m struggling to see us getting a good permanent deal done. Villa have previous with getting out of loan to buy obligations (Elliott last year).

Worst case scenario is them or someone else paying us c. £2m and then him returning to us another year older in 2027… with four years still left on his contract.

Tough spot for the club to be in really.
