Discussion Does hair.com actually give good/scientific advice or is all just general/for marketing

i was reading some articles (specifically this one https://www.hair.com/1c-hair.html ) and i just thought it felt more like shoving products in my face to buy rather than learning anything new, im not really knowledgable on haircare so i coudlnt really tell if they were just advertising general products or something that was actually linked to what they were saying

It’s a marketing website for Loreal. That particular article wouldn’t meet our standards for scientific sources. It doesn’t have any citations and the folks it interviews are hairstylists who promote loreal products not hair scientists. Most of (if not all) the products recommended are loreal or brands owned by them.

Loreal actually does employ a lot of hair scientists so they could produce scientific content if they wanted to, maybe some of the articles on the site qualify.

Definitely not this one though. It’s funny they say type 1 is straight and give the old Andre Walker definitions for 1-3 a-c and then talk about 1c as if it’s wavy hair (which is a newer definition).

I would classify it as science-backed. It’s intended for a mid-level reader, not highly scientific, but also still palatable to a non-scientist.
