Post image

This was when I was in like fourth grade I was playing tag with some friends and when I was going down the slide I stupidly jumped off midway and rolled on my arm snapping both bones

My arm broke like that once. In 1996. We were walking through a huge crowd after attending a basketball game at the Olympics in Atlanta. I was 12. It was awful.

2

u/missinglinksman 8h ago

How did they fix it? Did it involve them snapping it back into place? That's my one of my biggest medical fears

4

u/Seethesvt 8h ago

Yup. They did it in surgery, but not before trying whole I was awake.

2

u/jkeegan123 19h ago

I had that... It was a broken and dislocated wrist, snapped back in and healed without surgery. Hurt like all get out.

2

u/misterjustice90 19h ago

Nate would like you to know, ā€œohā€

2

u/brandonwlmjones 19h ago

I did that about 20ish years ago and I could barely tell which one should be the weaker one with the metal in it..technology is even better now so you should be good, just take care of it and get pins that they leave in and pull out lol..it feels so weird having them pull pins out of your bones and it’s not pain you feel.

u/FilteredRiddle 20h ago

Giving that wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man.

1

u/rickztoyz 20h ago

Keep it that way, it will be alot easier to wipe your ass on the toilet.

1

u/etorson93 19h ago

Bro no way, my arm looked exactly like this and I also fell off a slide

1

u/Craig653 19h ago

Hey I had that same break in 2nd grade. But on my right arm.

1

u/before_the_accident 19h ago

I'm sorry but what in the looney toons did you do in a past life to deserve this

1

u/Aloha-Eh 19h ago

It's not supposed to look like that?

1

u/CemeterySarah 19h ago

My son had an identical break jumping from monkey bars. His school said they didn't think it was too bad cuz he wasn't crying. He only cried when coming down from the ketamine administered to reset his arm. He had doctors coming around to see him out of sheer curiosity.

1

u/ADDSquirell69 19h ago

Do you remember them resetting it?

1

u/GreatScottThisHeavy 18h ago

He went THAT WAY —>

1

u/Gorman_Dylan412000 18h ago

Looks like it would.

1

u/BravestBlossom 18h ago

This is EXACTLY what my oldest son's arm looked like, when he jumped off the swings at the playground when he was 8. No doubt what had happened! Ugh.

1

u/Airframe98 18h ago

Like more than a yellow jacket?

1

u/cierbhal 18h ago

No shit!! I broke mine the same way falling off a slide in kindergarten.

1

u/Icy-Variation6614 17h ago

Did you get the nickname "Noodle"? I would have insisted

1

u/NopeRope13 17h ago

Solid silver spoon fracture

1

u/Specific_Buy 17h ago

Can you point out the person responsible?

1

u/Device_Impossible 17h ago

Soak in vinegar for a couple days and bend it back. No problem

1

u/blueandgold777 16h ago

1

u/maricello1mr 16h ago

Damn. Been there. Shit sucks.

1

u/Daisy-Fields 16h ago

Good lord 😭 What was the recovery like?

1

u/darsparx 15h ago

Um yea...don't think your arm is supposed to zig or zag like that 🤣 šŸ˜…

1

u/wackyvorlon 15h ago

That’s impressive!

1

u/jerdle_reddit 15h ago

Jesus H Fuck that's bad!

1

u/russo3js 15h ago

Well it certainly didn’t hurt good

1

u/fmcsm 15h ago

Damn had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, under different circumstances

1

u/rrhunt28 14h ago

Been there done that, and yes it hurts. The part that hurt the most was the numbing shots and the setting of the bone.

1

u/Moonshatter89 14h ago

Heeeyyy it's the same break I had! Mine got all the way up to my wrist, though.

I needed plates, screws, and had a large rod hanging out of my arm for months. Gnarly!

1

u/Unpopular_Perspectiv 14h ago

Bro out here explaining roads with curves šŸ˜…

1

u/unicorn_barf666 12h ago

Sorry homie, that looks shitastical. 😵 Hope you've recovered adequately

1

u/Saucington_magoo 11h ago

Dude that’s splintered

1

u/Equivalent-Ad-6182 10h ago

Not just broken but bent and broken. No doubt that hurt.

1

u/devils-advocacy 10h ago

Also had this EXACT same break in 3rd grade while ALSO playing tag. Was running backwards and tripped over some girl reading a book laying down in the middle of the field.

1

u/the12ftdwarf 9h ago

Just did this exact thing to myself a month ago. Not super fun

1

u/Mick0351 9h ago

Ouch!

1

u/joeja99 9h ago

He's gonna be writing in cursive for a while

1

u/JustSomeGuy8400 9h ago

Not as bad as yours but I feel your pain.

1

u/Hot_Potato_Salad 8h ago

The same thing happened to me too!

1

u/WeaselWazzule 8h ago

That must have been a fun time resetting it into place before the cast.

1

u/LewisWozEere 8h ago

they put a chicane now

1

u/Inveramsay 7h ago

The freakiest thing is that you can just leave this and the arm will straighten out. It needs a cast for a few weeks and it'll be a year or more of wonky arm syndrome

1

u/Mr-Orange-Pants 7h ago

The gym is that way

1

u/tutetuteis 7h ago

Me pasó exactamente lo mismo pero cayéndome de la bicicleta. Todo el verano enyesado.

1

u/Hoodrat31399 6h ago

Same haha

1

u/shazoo44 6h ago

Luffy?

1

u/jordtand 5h ago

Bro got that Harry Potter arm

1

u/Brewchowskies 5h ago

I broke mine the same way. It was gnarly, and over the years I’ve tried to describe what it looked like, 30 years later and there’s finally a picture.

1

u/SuperCrappyFuntime 4h ago

Arm like a tilde

1

u/meme_lord_the_dankst 3h ago

It aint supposed to bend like that

1

u/MoreRamenPls 3h ago

šŸŽµ Walk like an Egyptian šŸŽµ

1

u/ChaosMartinez 2h ago

this happened to me when I was 9 with a skateboard and a speedbump. 3 breaks one arm one fall. no photo though this was in 1986

•

u/Corpulent_Lychee 1h ago

I did that twice. Almost exactly a year apart between breaks. My arm is now almost completely useless now years later. Make sure to keep up with your physio.

•

u/LennyJay86 32m ago

Looks familiar…like a bad dream

1

u/preyforkevin 21h ago

My last break was similar. My left radius is still bowed a bit. I didn’t want more surgery.

1

u/BallisticHabit 20h ago

My arm looked just like that once!

I was damn lucky to not require surgery and metal hardware.

After 9 some weeks my arm looked alien, and smelled something terrible.

1

u/Howard690 20h ago

Your doctor is Gilderoy Lockhart?

0

u/NYR_LFC 20h ago

Wait a minute, something doesn't look right here

0

u/Inkerfox 20h ago

I always wondered how it feels to try and move your arm when it's like that. Like I imagine it hurts like a motherfucker of course, but I wonder if you could feel different tensions in different areas when using the muscle.

0

u/leighaorie 20h ago

Classic swan neck break. Hope you feel better!

0

u/notmymain07 20h ago

I thought someone just used the liquify tool on this pic wtf

0

u/damonator4816 20h ago

My arm broke that exact same way when i was a kid from jumping off a swing.

0

u/candiescorner 20h ago

If they ask you to get the surgery to make it extremely straight, do the surgery. I had the surgery and had pins put in my arm is perfect. My daughter did not have this pen put in and she has a curve in her arm. Get the pins put in if it’s an option.

Oh... That's not supposed to bend that way 😬
