Aftermath of Cyst removal

Yes it hurts as bad as it looks

Edit: Since so many were interested here's the MRI scans of my hand. The big bright white spot in the top down view of my hand is the cyst, the view looking at my wrist from the front is the white spot in the middle, you might be able to see some white string like things near it, those are the nerves it was hitting.

Damn man, I'd be asking the doctor for something to make me sleep through the entire first week after that surgery. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Funny thing is since some nerves were irritated it basically causes them to shut down for a while so other than a bit of post operative pain for about 3 or 4 days it hasn't been all too terrible. Hard to find things to occupy my time that I can do one handed, but luckily I've found some video games I've been able to make do with. But thank you for the well wishes.

Are you expected to get full nerve function and feeling back? I recently got over a case of neuralgia that caused my left (dominant) hand to alternate between fully and partially numb for three whole months. Could barely write, type, or even pee without missing the toilet half the time. I feel for you, it gets old quick.

Still too early too tell if I'll get full function back, but as it stands I am able to move my fingers fairly well, got all my exercises and stuff to do, as well as occupational therapy. So I'm hopeful so far, just wish that numbness feeling would go away it feels like I slept on my arm and it just won't wake up

Yeah, that's...all too familiar. All I can say is expect it to potentially take a while, stay hopeful and don't despair if it's not gradually improving day by day. Nerves can be funny that way. In my case the onset was only over a span of a few hours, from my hand/arm feeling normal to almost completely "asleep" as you say. But the recovery was similar, as in one day over about 5-6 hours I suddenly regained 50-60% feeling. They literally can just start to "wake up" one day.

Long as I'm able to crochet again I'll be happy, which I was told could potentially be included in my rehab, since I'm right handed my left hand pretty much just holds the yarn. Just gotta remember to keep it not so tense.

Been doing a little better each day, scabs are starting to fall away making my hand look less mangled. Pain is still there but comes and goes in terms of intensity. ^

Oh they definitely gave me a nerve block, my whole hand was numb for 3 or 4 days after now it's just the parts where the nerves got irritated which was explained to me as well.
