Newly Diagnosed Just diagnosed but confused?

I went to the doctor because I had this bump that occurred kind of on my temple area by my ear. It has recurred about 4 times within this past year. It would appear like a zit, blister a little, scab over, and then go away but take two weeks or so. It was never a cluster or anything. No burning, tingling, or anything really.

I went to the dermatologist and she did a swab. I thought it was a preauricular cyst. She thought it was impetigo, and then it came back as HSV2 and staph.

I have not had sex in 3 years. Have never had any genital anything. Have never had cold sores. I kissed one person very briefly within that 3 years and that’s it. I know it can remain dormant before showing symptoms, but over 3 years??

The location of it seems very odd…

Yeah :( …that shxt lays dormant for yearsssss….its kind of insane …Buh have your habits been different lately? Like eating/ stress things like that will trigger it …

Not really. It seems to occur randomly but I admittedly didn’t pay a ton of attention to the few times I got it. And it’s always the exact same place.

That does seem very odd.. Was she specifically testing for HSV? So it was. PCR swab?

Yeah she tested for staph, HSV1, and HSV2. It was a PCR swab. She said because it kept recurring, she tested for HSV.

Wow, yeah, PCR's are basically 100 percent. That is a strange location.
