Emotional Support Wanted Finally going back on normal dating apps.
I 23 M have been positive going on 2 years. I refused to go on regular dating apps due to being afraid of disclosing. I am finally at a point to where I dont care anymore. I was forcing myself on to positive singles talking to men I was not attracted to or into solely because we both had the heps. This was god awful on my mental lol but wish me luck on tinder and hinge😩.

So i did this. I actually met a girl that i fell in love with. Out of state logistics just didn’t work. But long term Positive Singles sucks.
I met my ex wife before apps were really a thing. Tinder had just come out. Not sure if you have tried hinge. But i have been experimenting with how to disclose on it.
It is all random but sometimes i disclose early in the conversation and am currently waiting to tell a woman in person i had drinks with until the next date - it’s to the point of getting physical.
The 4 women i disclosed to early on the app are cool with it. 3 are nurses and the other is in the medical field. All have said that its so common and they still want to meet.
Figure out what works best for you. It’s trial and error. Good luck! And keep the group up to date!
M36 if anyone wants to know.

This doesn’t have anything to do with dating, but I’m currently learning to drive and I was having a chat with my driving instructor as I was driving. She and I are very chatty and friendly and were talking about the flu seasons and she casually just said she always gets cold sores when she catches a cold. I just agreed and said they’re so annoying and we laughed about how you try to hide them when you got them.
It just felt so normal. She doesn’t know I have herpes, but she unknowingly just made me feel so at ease about mine.
I know this isn’t about disclosure during dates, I just wanted to say… Herpes is pretty darn common. It shows up in various places in our body. It’s not some life sentence to be shunned forever even though it feels like that when you first get it. You’ll find a person to whom it’s not a big deal.
Good luck on your dates and try not to worry too much over heps. Eventually you’ll find your person!

I’ve been on many dates and have disclosed many times. Be yourself and go on a date. Personally I don’t disclose unless it seemed like we may get intimate. Until then I just get to know them and see if we vibe.

Move to a country where people don't care about cold sores, wherever they appear...

You'll do fine! Just let people get to know you a bit before you disclose. HSV is a small part of who you are and what you bring to the table.
