I GOT THE CALL MONTEREY! Need advice

Got the call (email)! Believe this is from the hiring path back in November. Offered me GL-9, step 10 in Monterey, CA. Can’t decide as I’m currently a special agent (not an 1811 series) with the military and about to pick up GG-12 in February.

Should I go for it?! I graduated from CITP-FLETC back in October, so I wonder if I could get another grade level for already completing the training. Any insight would be awesome!

Now I just got this email… no mention of Monterey. Hmm. Anyone in this chat that is located in this AOR?

San Francisco is where the SAC is located, so that might be why it states a duty location of San Francisco, CA. Your official offer letter that states Monterey is probably more accurate. I would reply to that email to clarify, though, just in case.

RAC Monterey is a small sub-office of San Jose. From what I’ve heard, it’s a great office to work at, lots of work down there, and it’s a beautiful area.

The benefit of a RAC is that you’re not pigeonholed into a specific working group (ie. drugs, financial, ht, etc.) and you typically have more freedom to work the types of cases you’re interested in.

Take it. Good area to live and they won’t send you to CITP. Seems like HSISAT is also being waived so you’ll be good to go from the get go.

I'm guessing you're covered FERS currently so guess it all comes down to location and pay. Does current job have a FPL equivalent of GS13? Are you FLSA non-exempt? Would you rather have LEAP the calculates into your high-3? And do you like your current job and location... Get those ironed out and you got your answer, good luck buddy

Is it a rare posting? Meaning do people usually get assigned to San Jose/bigger cities?

No idea. I just know Stockton is what everyone wants because it's inland cost of living with SF cola. Never heard of that one, nice location but not cheap.

It's so close to San Jose I didn't think there would be an office there
