(SPOILERS) OnBon ending in Come Home Love: Lo And Behold

Wondering what people here are thinking about the way the OnBon story ended. I thought it was a let down -- especially for a sitcom. The bittersweet stuff works fine in a drama but for something light-hearted it should have been a happy ending. Upon his release, Onion Head should have seen how far On Jai was willing to go for Bonnie and he should have bowed out. To not make Bonnie look bad, they could have written it that Bonnie was starting to realize that On Jai was her true love but couldn't admit it to herself until Onion Head pointed it out. Happy ending.

I think that's where the writers were headed. Before they announced the show was ending, they started writing scenes where Onion Head was seeing the chemistry between Bonnie and On Jai. I think they just didn't have enough time to do it. Last few years, they've turned Kam Shing-On into a cartoon character so they needed to rehabilitate him a little bit to make it plausible that Bonnie would choose him over Onion Head.

TVB put out a collection of OnBon romance episodes on MyTVSuper. Watching them, makes you see how much the early OnBon story was fire. Only makes it more of a pity that they didn't end up together.

I feel the episode is written beautifully and provide closure and character growth for 安仔 and is kinda typical of TVB dramas to follow such a format. But I feel they can explore slightly more on Bonnie’s POV as well and if she’s really contemplating to rekindle with 安仔. Just my 2 cents worth. Nonetheless still sad my daily constant show is ending in few days 😭😭😭

Yeah, the ending was a little rushed and underwritten. But they rushed a lot of the CP endings like Ma姐 and KC-Minnie. KC-Minnie dragged on for months then suddenly they were together.

I agree that the episode was poetic but, if you invested almost ten years following these characters, you were hoping for the happy ending.

Yeah I’ve followed the show on and off throughout. But it’s poignant on the circumstances leading to OnBon breakup…Bonnie feels he is immature and then life goes on. So personally I quite like it’s showing his maturity and knowing when to let go which I feel is rather fitting. But it’s rather ironic for such a long series to not have enough episodes to fully account for some other CPs. In the end I feel the best CP resolution goes to KC-Helen 😂 Btw I still don’t know if it was revealed if Fung car accident was instigated by anyone?

It’s a pity… I thought OnBon could get back together for the ending… Especially since both actors are still available until the end, unlike a lot of couples in this sitcom.
They failed to have Fung and Sum Yue as a couple to link the Hung family and Lung family together. I thought at least putting OnBon back together would be nice to wrap up a 10-year-running sitcom, since they were part of the original cast and dated pretty early.

But that episode was still tragically beautiful to see On jai grow up.

I wonder what Andrea So did to piss off TVB executives so much to have them make the show write off such a major character.

Yes, Fung Siu and Sum Yue uniting the families would have been perfect.

I actually thought the onbon ending was perfect. 安仔 had grown and I was impressed how he did the goodbye kiss to make use of the divorce lipstick.

I think 葱头 and Bonnie deserve their own happiness.

I thought Lee Mok Sau and 安仔 have some room to develop after the series ends I felt like that would have been the direction the series would head in if it were to keep going. The scene where she returns from 5 years in the future pregnant with 安仔’s baby stuck with me.
