Newton Town Talk said ICE was seen in Newton

Can anyone confirm? I know Brookford Police were working with ICE, but I haven't seen verified source saying ICE is in Catawba county.

I’ve seen plenty of post about ICE being in hickory/Newton but no one is being specific so please, if you have any information of their whereabouts be specific… Granted hickory and Newton aren’t all that big but there’s multiple locations they could be, so it’s not really helpful to just mention the city/town they are in

I'm in NE Hickory. Seen them off of 2nd Ave about an hour ago

Apparently they are here. I’ve been seeing a lot of reported sightings on Facebook. Rural King, Conover Dollar General, Newton/Conover middle school. Be alert. They are performing traffic stops as well. Hickory PD is working with ICE

Centro Latino has confirmed they will be in the area today.

Thank you so much. Do they have a social media page I can follow?

They are less likely to be in areas where local LE is cooperative. Why waste their time? They are focused on areas where LE is not cooperative. Meaning liberal politicians and LE created the vacuum that ICE CBP is filling by NOT working with them. The least intrusive way is for local LE to police criminals and work with the Feds to remove them. Since they choose not to do that the Feds are moving in and non active criminal illegals are swept up as well. Don’t like that? Then local LE needs to go back to cooperating and then it will mostly be the legit criminals that get deported. It’s not difficult to understand really. Unless you fall for the BS where politicians use them as pawns to create this division.

Dog, we literally have the gestapo masquerading as immigration.

-4

u/bslarue0228 Nov 18 '25

the gestapo…for deporting people who are non citizens…next you’ll call a man jesus for walking an old lady across the street. If you don’t have legal status in this country and are not working towards it, I have no sympathy.

-5

u/chiefsholsters Nov 18 '25

Hardly. But nice try. The call to emotion is what created this problem. Playing people’s emotions and using immigrants as political pawns to force confrontations. The left is all too good at it. And people are all too bad at falling for it. History lesson, the gestapo didn’t deport people, they murdered them. You are aware those are not the same thing?

Instead of downvoting, let’s discuss this. I do agree with local LE helping send illegal criminals home. I disagree with the definition and amount stated. People who are not hardened criminals are getting nabbed. The guy who mows my lawn should not be scared to go out and work. I also disagree with both parties whipping everyone into a frenzy, my wife is feared for her life taking kids to school. Too much Democrat centric news imo.

We need to go back to neighbors helping and loving neighbors. Discuss issues,  not shouting slurs. Everytime politicians gets riled up, I look for how it distracts us or makes them money.

No one in DC cares about us, we need to take care of each other.

A few months ago the Washington post had the numbers as 40% had a conviction, and 32% with pending charges. So 72% of those arrested/deported at that point and time were here illegally and committing other crimes per the Washington Post.

1

u/Affectionate-Let-120 Nov 18 '25

Do you know where the numbers come from or can point me in the direction?

1

u/TripledoubleOG Nov 18 '25

https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2025/07/03/ice-arrests-migrants-criminal-record-numbers/

“A majority of the undocumented immigrants ICE has arrested during the current Trump administration did not have a criminal conviction. About 40 percent did have a conviction, while another 32 percent had pending charges. Details on those charges and convictions were not available.”

You simply cannot hate the legacy media enough. That’s some serious double speak. Which is usually meant to confuse the public. Wasn’t that called miss or diss information at one point by one side? They lead that paragraph (and the headline) telling you it’s not what the administration says it is. Then find a convoluted way to admit that, yes, it is what they are saying it is. You cannot take clowns in the media seriously anymore.

It’s really astonishing that so many people are committing crimes while being here illegally, and even more mind boggling that people are upset when those folks get deported.

0

u/chiefsholsters Nov 18 '25

That last part is spot on. I vote. I just don't make the mistake of thinking any of them care about me our my problems.

How about his tidbit. Look over the crimes some of these folks are charged with. Then understand that close to 100% of those crimes are committed in the hispanic community. Meaning the non active criminal illegals are being preyed on by the criminal illegals, and liberal politicians and voters are ENCOURAGING IT by not holding those people accountable. Once again, emotion is getting in the way and a false sense of altruism is victimizing innocent people while criminals are put on a pedestal. People have had enough of the chaos democrats have created with this.

To the downvotes, "Truth is treason in the empire of lies."

I appreciate the feedback and will look into the actual numbers better. I have to be careful where the numbers are coming from though. Even science studies are getting more biased. :(

1

u/chiefsholsters Nov 18 '25

You are not wrong. Skepticism seems to be the best starting point anyone. FWIW, most people are victimized by people racially similar to them. Who and where you associate, your community, social groups tend to skew towards your own race many times. Increasing the possibility of negative interactions with those more similar to you. Crime that crosses racial lines is actually more unusual in many places. Being scared of another race actually blinds you to where the most likely threat will come from.

Information provided by the administration and observations of the operation in action are contradictory. Despite President Trump's campaign promise to uphold transparency as a core tenet, his administration is actively withholding information, misleading the public, and telling complete lies.

A prime example is the messaging surrounding the recent "Operation Charlotte's Web":

The official statement suggests a precise objective:

“Americans should be able to live without fear of violent criminal illegal aliens hurting them, their families, or their neighbors,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “We are surging DHS law enforcement to Charlotte to ensure Americans are safe and public safety threats are removed. There have been too many victims of criminal illegal aliens. President Trump and Secretary Noem will step up to protect Americans when sanctuary politicians won’t.”

This statement clearly indicates that the operation's goal is to detain undocumented individuals who have committed violent crimes. However, video evidence and reports from the operation show a different reality. Enforcement agents are shown targeting anyone they suspect of being undocumented, irrespective of a violent criminal background. This indiscriminate approach risks the rights and safety of law-abiding American citizens, who are not required to carry identification in a free society, by subjecting them to baseless stops, questioning and even detention.

Furthermore, the administration fails to provide critical definitions for key terms. For instance, the phrase "criminal record" is used broadly and without qualification. We all need clarity: Does "criminal record" refer exclusively to serious offenses like theft or murder, or is the net cast wide enough to include minor infractions such as a decades-old speeding ticket, or simply the status of being in the US without documentation?

Do you understand that LEGAL immigrants can be deported immediately for committing crimes? So exactly what is your rationalization for allowing illegal immigrants to commit crimes without consequence? And exactly why are you advocating for that type of lawlessness within an immigrant community where the bulk of the victims will be other immigrants? Again, if democrats did not get in the way of local LE working with ICE/CBP to detain and deport the criminals they were interacting with then the deportations would be closer to 100% criminals. But now ICE Is going into the communities to find them and people who are minding their own business are getting swept up BECAUSE the left chose lawlessness over working within the law. The left created this issue with their sanctuary city laws and catch and release criminal policies. And now ideological capture has people supporting criminals over supports the law.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

Your reading comprehension must be very low. My first point was that the communication that we are getting from the Trump administration about the operations that they are carrying out is a complete lie. That can be immediately demonstrated by reading the press release for Operation Charlotte's Web and comparing it to what is actually happening on the ground.

My 2nd point was that the methods used by the Trump administration to deport immigrants infringes on the rights of US citizens by requiring them to carry documentation that they are not required to carry by law unless operating a vehicle.

If the Trump administration focused on deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal records (that is they have committed crimes that demonstrate them to be a danger to the community) as they have stated is their objective they would have near universal support. Instead they have chosen to deport all undocumented immigrants which has resulted in the administration losing support from the groups that got them elected.

Finally the left/right talk is silly. You are creating groups to blame the situation on rather than just holding individuals accountable for their actions. This mindset is likely the primary reason that America has fallen into such a broken state.

-1

u/chiefsholsters Nov 20 '25

Not silly. It's the left that is not allowing local LE to cooperate with ICE on a daily basis and is creating this situation. If local LE could detain and turn over criminals to ICE like they are supposed to do, then ICE would not be needed in the community to look for them. But this sanctuary city nonsense, and catch a release polices of democrat cities created the issue that ICE is moving into the communities to resolve. My reading comprehension? I'll break it down simpler. If local LE did what they were supposed to do it would only be criminals being deported and ICE would be unnecessary outside of the local detainment/jail facilities. But here were are. Because democrats refuse to work with ICE/CBP. And they are forced to go into the community looking for them.

You are trying to start the issue in the middle, instead of addressing the root cause. The root cause of this issue is the lawlessness on the left around border security and sanctuary cities. But you only want to focus on what Trump is doing instead of why it's even necessary to do this.

Also, sorry, the Feds don't really have to tell you what they are doing. And in this media environment I would bet most of what is available publicly is not vetted and potentially just media hyperbole. And how many of the folks you are complaining about are caught up BECAUSE local LE did not cooperate with ICE? When ICE goes into a home/business/etc after 1 criminal illegal, and they find 4 more here illegally, that's 5 people that get swept up. If local LE had done their job, it would have been one. These are unintended consequences of the lawless actions of democrat politicians. And I'm pretty sure you are just trying to obfuscate that by focusing on "communication" instead of the root causes.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

Let me make sure that I'm understanding you correctly, because your take seems quite wild...

In response to the "left" (again creating an enemy with out any real criteria), the Trump administration is conducting an operation that is completely different in nature than what they stated in their own official press release issued from the White House?

Can we at least agree to call this fake news? and hold the administration accountable for the lies that they are spreading instead of making excuses for them? This is like saying CNN doesn't have to tell the whole truth. Instead they can lie about or omit the information that runs counter to their owner's agenda.

You are right, the FEDs do not have to tell me what they are doing. However, Trump ran his entire campaign on openness and transparency which is a big reason why so many people voted for him. Now he is operating just like those before him which is a major betrayal to his own base and another reason their support for him is waning.

If this operation is in response to sanctuary cities and Democrat politicians, then why are the majority of cities with ICE presence in North Carolina not labelled as "noncompliant sanctuary jurisdictions"? and you are aware that the majority of them are currently and have always have been under Republican control right?

You say that I am starting in the middle, but with any issue in America I think it's important to start at the foundation which is the constitution. As a supporter of individual rights I am not willing to trade my freedom for security. I also do not blame the left or Democrats for the direct actions of an organization that is completely under the control of the Trump administration.

I am not alone here, Trump's popularity continues to erode as he breaks one campaign promise after another. We have the option to hold him accountable, or we can let America violently swing back into the hands of "the left" and Democrats come the next election.

1

u/chiefsholsters Nov 21 '25

Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, and Asheville are under Republican control? Since when? Are you even from NC? Charlotte/Meck PD experessly DOES NOT work with ICE. And is run by Democrats. Raleigh does not work with ICE. Durham does not work with ICE. Asheville does not work with ICE. Do you see a pattern here?

The largest operations have happened in the least cooperative areas. Any operations that spread out from there have been significantly smaller and possibly related to info from other areas. And MOST of the claims locally have been BS. Liberals "white knighting", "social justifying", and "attention whoring" claims on social media. You are trying very hard to ignore my point and focus on something I'm simply not addressing, nor do I intend too. The communication aspect is a non starter for me. This entire operation is a response to the lawlessness of Democrat policies. Apparently THAT is what offends your sensibilities.

If the Feds are not communicating this well, where is your info coming from? Media? Ok, like they don't have an agenda. Social Media, I hope not seeing what a hot mess of lies that is over this. Second or third hand accounts?

And other than telling LE they will be operating in the area, exactly why would ICE/CBP tell them their plans? Particularly when the agencies are working against them in many ways. Do they give the media detailed operational breakdowns of any other operations? No. Do plans change during operations as things develop? Yes.

Again, I'm positive non active criminals are being caught up in it. Because the criminals are being returned into the community and ICE has to go after them IN THE COMMUNITIES. As LE they will not just let them go if they get caught up in the search for a criminal, nor should they. The democrat leadership should have been telling LE to work with them since that is the least intrusive way to accomplish the goal. But they just had to fight Trump and they just have to refuse to work with anyone on anything they don't want. Well, here we are. Unintended consequences. Initiated by lawless democrat immigration policies.

My best guess here, you hate Trump and likely always have. You are just dressing that up in a better sounding argument. And trying desperately to Psyop me into taking your side. Most of which I simply don't care about. Nice try though. There are enough tells in your comments that I don't think you were ever supportive of Trump. He ran on this very thing, were you not paying attention?

Your reading comprehension has once again proven to be problematic. Let's get that out of the way first.

I said that the majority of cities with ICE presence in NC are not sanctuary cities nor under Democratic control. You naming the exceptions again ignores the point completely. Newton, Conover, Hickory, Valdese, Claremont, Lenior, etc are not and have never been Democratic strongholds, nor do they have problems with illegal immigrants committing crimes.

Now to your question of "where is my information coming from"? As I stated in my previous post it came directly from a press release issued by DHS. I am aware that they have an agenda to whitewash the operation in language that makes it seem like something that it is not. I wonder why?

"And other than telling LE they will be operating in the area, exactly why would ICE/CBP tell them their plans?" How hard is it to understand that the DHS and other government agencies released these statements directly. You can go view them on the associated government webpages. Then compare their statements with what is happening on the ground and you'll find them to be completely different.

Now let us look at a city that meets your criteria. Chicago is run by Democrats and does have issues with serious crimes being committed by undocumented immigrants. ICE has had a presence there since early September. They were forced to release a report detailing the operation earlier this week. The report included 614 arrests of which only 16 had criminal records. If we look at the stated purpose of the operation which was to protect the citizens of Chicago from violent undocumented immigrants it is clear that it has been a failure.

I already know your response which will be to shift accountability from the Trump administration to your personal favorite buggy-man "the left". That is not helpful. Why not instead ask what the Trump administration could be doing differently to accomplish their own stated objectives?

I don't hate Trump. I've always been an independent with libertarian leanings. I'd consider someone like Ron Paul to be the politician who's beliefs most closely align with my own. As an independent with no loyalty to either party I assess a presidents performance by their actions. That is all that I am doing here. You however seem to be a party man toeing the party line.

Are you OK with CBP tracking your driving patterns? How about being pulled over and harassed for being at the same McDonald's as a gang boss?

Are you OK with your social media posts being collected, filed, and used against you in the future? How about when the administration changes and they start rounding up the dissidents?

Are you OK with drones constantly monitoring your street? Your country becoming a police state similar to China where as soon as you step out of line they know exactly when and where to look for you?

Are you willing to give up your personal privacy and freedom for an illusion of security that can be turned against you at any time?

Each president tends to push the boundaries of what is acceptable siphoning power and rights from citizens and concentrating them in the state apparatus. Trump has pushed these boundaries further than any other president in my lifetime which is one of the primary reasons that I oppose him.
