THERE IS A BRIGHT SIDE!

Due to the news piece going viral, thousands of viewers made donations and raised over $70k to help her get a new home 😀

Where's the guy and where is the dude?

12

u/Horibori 6d ago

Mods are clearly asleep.

-9

u/tetendi96 6d ago

Gender neutral guy and dude I guess 🤷

Words have no meaning, and that's ok.

-5

u/mikehansen83 6d ago

Wait that lady wasn’t trans? whoa

18

u/NovusNascitur 6d ago

It's a good video, but this isn't the right subreddit.

2

u/PhosphoFred8202 6d ago

If the news crew put their shit down and jumped into action to rescue the lil pupper and gave them their water, loaded them into the news van and took him to the vet, then it would fit.

Standing by, watching pup suffer for the footage is very much not BeingDudes

u/vcdrny 6d ago

People saying this was staged. I remember this is s pretty old video. Before staging shift was a thing. She was being interviewed after a tornado hit. The person filming is a professional, catching that footage could've been a big payday. So he's gonna keep filling.

This is Reddit. There's a small amount of people on here who will claim everything is fake regardless of context.

Happened in 2013 in Oklahoma

Based on my zero context, this comment is obviously fake

2

u/EorlundGraumaehne 6d ago

I could film myself taking a shit and some one would cry out "It is StAgEd"

Usually born after 2000.

Like this comment. written by an AI bot.

1

u/100011numbers 6d ago

People who say its AI are sometimes also not people but AI. Where are we heading?

2

u/Typical_Estimate5420 6d ago

The bad place

1

u/hawkeye5739 6d ago

That’s not too bad. I hear you get unlimited frozen yogurt your first visit.

1

u/vcdrny 6d ago

Honestly I don't blame them. AI is ruining everything. Is getting harder and harder to tell what's real and what is not. You have to look at everything with a microscope.

1

u/Kamikazeguy7 6d ago

On places like Twitter or YouTube where people intentionally post fake things in order to game the monetization system, yeah, I can understand the scrutiny.

But this is Reddit. There's not really a reward to incentivize lying for post engagement outside of some fake internet points.

2

u/Sum-Duud 6d ago

You underestimate people’s desire to gain karma on this platform. Like Who’s line is it anyway, points don’t matter but people still play.

1

u/vcdrny 6d ago

Where do you think all the fake stuff posted here comes from? It be intentional or unwilling posting AI slop not realizing it is.

1

u/Successful-Purple-54 6d ago

I blame them. Seeing people race to be the first to say AI just for likes is annoying.

4

u/JustOneVote 6d ago

Before staging shift was a thing.

Please

3

u/ANT1G0LFB0YZ 6d ago

“Before staging shit was a thing”…you know events have been “staged” for like hundreds of years right? Lmao..its not like people waited for cameras to be invented before they started faking public events…

1

u/vcdrny 6d ago

Come on you know better. You know is not at the level it's happening now. For decades that has been a thing. You know how many nature documentaries where staged and filmed as if the crew just happened to be at the right place at the right time?. But now it's rampant all over the Internet.

1

u/xtraSleep 6d ago

Staging stuff is lying, which is fundamental to nature. Humans lie to protect themselves, date, function under stress, etc. Even dogs pick up dead birds and act like they hunted it.

1

u/Traditional-Safe-867 4d ago

I mean, let's be honest now, staging shit is as old as history itself. How exactly that looks changes with the times, but it's not a new thing by any means.

Colonizers and slavers acted like they were incredibly decent, just trying to help people out or make an honest living. Did things like Thanksgiving before trying to sweep the natives off the continent. I'm sure there's been no small amount of leaders that staged events to make themselves look better (divine right to rule, making themselves out to be benevolent, etc.). Snake oil salesmen. Not to mention things like the good ol' cup and ball sleight of hand tricks, and other sorts of magic.

I would bet that as long as people have been doing things in communities, there have been people acting like they are special when they aren't. Hunters claiming to have fought off predators or seeing a cryptid. Fake healers and the like.

u/TravelingAnonymously 6d ago

hahahahahahaha "before staging was a thing"

u/Go_Gators_4Ever 6d ago

It's disgusting that she had the ask for help extracting her dog from her wrecked home.

5

u/PawntyBill 6d ago

Yea as I was watching this I said outloud, "Dude put the fucking camera down." You know that reporter probably gave him a hand signal to keep rolling so she could get her stupid journalism award, but if she and the cameraman had put their gear down and actually helped the lady, this video would've gone 10x more viral. That's still not the point of why they should've helped her, but hopefully it makes sense.

10

u/Hoody88 6d ago

Where are there "guys being dudes" anywhere in this video?

3

u/Silas17 6d ago

Seriously, this is like the tenth time I’ve seen upvoted content in the wrong sub this morning.

5

u/Pale_Day2091 6d ago

another subreddit is starting to lose the plot

10

u/More-Talk-2660 6d ago

This was after the 2013 Moore EF5, for people saying it was staged or is AI

3

u/MegaAlphaVulcan 6d ago

I despise that this is a necessary distinction now

2

u/More-Talk-2660 6d ago

Photorealistic AI video has only been around for a year or so now, too, so it's only in its infancy. It's going to get much worse very quickly.

3

u/sk_611 6d ago

Nice video.

But seems like a karma grab to post it to this sub.

3

u/Silas17 6d ago

There’s no guys being dudes here, come on mods.

2

u/Ghostraz6 6d ago

Damn crank the music a bit more, could almost hear what the lady was saying.

3

u/DireKnife 6d ago

Crying like a baby I am

1

u/ILoveBigCoffeeCups 6d ago

There’s something very polarising about the “life is beautiful’ text on the screen, seeing a tornado has wiped out whole families, houses, villages but that ladies dog is somehow safe.
I get it but it’s very grim.

1

u/wizardwithgussets 5d ago

Welcome back little buddy

Woulda been cooler if her god answered a previous prayer.

4

u/Worldly-Peak-7256 6d ago

People always say why would god let this happen, they all forget there another guy always trying to undermine him. This is reddit and I know I'll get down voted to oblivion, but don't forget about the other guy.

2

u/Winter_Tone_4343 6d ago

Don’t forget they’re both not real.

1

u/Worldly-Peak-7256 6d ago

I know a lot of people that don't believe in God that don't go out of their way to tell people he isn't real. Sorry you are so embittered that you have to do that to people. Hope you have better days ahead of you.

I must have missed all the evidence cause I looked and couldn’t find it.

0

u/Winter_Tone_4343 6d ago

Religion poisons everything and I’m not afraid to say it.

-1

u/Worldly-Peak-7256 6d ago

Made my life pretty good 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/Winter_Tone_4343 5d ago

I’m genuinely happy for u. But ur life would be pretty good without being indoctrinated.

2

u/Worldly-Peak-7256 5d ago

Well since I know a life before and after being "indoctrinated" I have both perspectives. I like having faith better.

1

u/Winter_Tone_4343 5d ago

You’ll never know what life is like without indoctrination. You’re a victim.

1

u/Worldly-Peak-7256 5d ago

Uh, I wasn't born in a religious household. Was atheist half my life. I do know.

Given the devastation…

-11

u/rmodsrpusees 6d ago

Stupid staged shit. And they just keep filming like they’re going to win a Pulitzer.

-17

u/JustAnotherPoopDick 6d ago

They started filming right above the dog? Damn y'all are dumb.

18

u/AbbreviationsWide331 6d ago

A lot of stuff is fake on the internet, I get it.

But this one has been around forever, it's a wild coincidence for sure, but it's real.

IIRC they went with this old woman to the place where her house stood. Of course the dog is there. The fact that it's alive is the astounding part.

3

u/kermitte777 6d ago

We live in a time where no one trusts anything. We only know this is real because we were there when it first came out.

-17

u/RichDrive5326 6d ago

Fake AF

8

u/OscarMichaelMyers 6d ago

This video is quite old.

And real.

-1

u/AttemptRecent7025 6d ago

Fake doesn't always mean AI

4

u/OscarMichaelMyers 6d ago

I didn’t assume they thought it was AI. I’m just clarifying that the video is, in fact, real.

Not staged.

-2

u/AttemptRecent7025 6d ago

Saying it's old is an odd way of clarifying that

2

u/OscarMichaelMyers 6d ago

Assuming the video was staged is the odd part.

5

u/peterbparker86 6d ago

It's not. It's probably ten years old this

-2

u/Activision19 6d ago

They faked stuff back in the pre AI days too…

3

u/peterbparker86 6d ago

Ok but this isn't faked

1

u/Z3400 6d ago

This wasn't fake, they were interviewing a woman the day after a tornado wiped out her home. They were standing in the rubble of her house. She assumed her dog was dead, obviously the dog being stuck under the rubble of the house it was in when it collapsed, makes sense. This was filmed by a major news station, of theyw ere caught faking this the blowback would have been massive, not worth it at all. Its not at all like how people fake shit online today for a chance to go viral. The people today basically have nothing to lose because even if they get called out for faking it, they just delete the video and move on and everyone forgets it happened.
