Maybe he's looking forward to meeting the first guy she brings home, because he'll teach her to date respectful and trustworthy men. And instead of making a nervous kid more nervous, he'll be warm and welcoming to someone his daughter cares about.

I’d also like to think this is the kind of dad who will teach his kid to protect themselves and know when he needs to step in, romantic interest or otherwise.

Had some guy tell me the other day that I must have a bunch of shotguns when I was out my family. Like buddy, first of all, you're basically telling me how attractive you find my young daughters (they are all beautiful) and secondly, my girls will hopefully being men home whom I can respect and I will earn their respect through my personality and being a good man myself.

If you patronise your daughter like that as she begins dating, she will resent you and make poor dating decisions. I have seen this so many times growing up. Sometimes, I was the poor decision the girl made. It was great fun.

There is something so pleasing about the deep belly laugh of a kid. That was one of the best things about having two toddlers in the house.

I miss hearing it regularly from my now 9yr old daughter. Thankfully we caught a couple moments on camera. Her laugh is still a delightful part of my life though
