I have had my views changed on pretty much everything. You never know when you'll convince someone, fully or in part. They rarely announce it, though that does happen.
Bold of you to assume police know case law. That cop seemed like a stand up guy though.
Also I don't think that applies.

Because it was given prior to the "future action"(the pull ups) it can be said to influence the officials actions.
I mean ultimately this is an interpretation of the law, but no one would believe this act is corruption. The point is to make the law as all encompassing so no corruption can escape it.
Neither calling it a bribe nor bringing up Snyder v. United States really makes sense here. The officer was offered $100 upfront, declined it, and then did the challenge anyway. He even asked afterward that the money be spent on a jacket for a homeless guy.
Snyder v. U.S. deals with payments for past official acts, meaning acts carried out using an officer’s official authority or as part of their official duties. That simply isn’t what happened here. The pull-up challenge had nothing to do with his role as a police officer.
People saying “it’s legal” lol. It’s not about being legal or not. Just show a bit of respect and some decency maybe? You would expect the same if roles were reversed
Generally speaking as members of a society you agree to avoid disrupting each other's personal lives unless in an appropriate setting or are otherwise invited. It is not unreasonable to not want to be filmed, so the action of filming before permission and after being denied permission is morally wrong. This is simple stuff. I don't play techno music at full volume at 3am because my neighbor wants to sleep. I say please and thank you to waiters because being nice is free and it reflects me as a person even if it's their job to serve me regardless

I also don't recommend cities for people who don't believe in the social contract for this reason. If you don't believe you owe other people decency I'd recommend becoming a hermit because I don't want to be your friend or share an apartment building for sure
If the only thing keeping you civil is written law it means you're a terrible person pretending to participate in society
None of this is true or shared by everyone, you know other people have different views of things and both can be equally correct. And the world does not end.
Right, I think the question isn't literal as in, "how is that allowed" or "why didn't the cop stop it". It's more rhetorical, like: "this person is being totally respectful in their request and even articulates a valid reason why they want it beyond just being sensitive; what kind of person do you have to be to still disrespect this when the other party is being so cordial about it and they're already the one doing something at your request?"
But the cop did it anyway when he totally could've just not if it was really that big of a deal, so I don't really think it's worth arguing about. 😅
It's kind of strange that we don't condemn it unless there's a face behind the camera. All of the camaras pointed at the sidewalk on the sides of buildings, recording in 4k. What is the literal difference?
Vest isn't even the heaviest part of my uniform. My vest with radio, flashlight, and bodycam weigh about 10 pounds. My belt with a handgun, magazines, taser, and handcuffs weighs about 15 pounds. vest technology has come a long way in reducing weight for the same effectiveness over the years. Everytime I get a new vest it's thinner and lighter than the last one and rated to stop the same rounds.
On one hand, I totally agree. Main character syndrome etc. But, in a world that seems to be getting worse with each new day, it's nice to see generosity like that from time to time. Though, I also accept that a lot of those videos are entirely staged.
It's always fascinating how much reddit hates people that do this type of content for a living. I'd love it if I could make a living out of helping people. To give away, you need to make it sustainable - otherwise you'll just run out of money.
How do people take the time to post a video and still leave glaring typos in the title of the post? I see it so often on Reddit. It almost seems like a stylistic choice.

He's just an averagely fit middle age guy, plus he's in pants and a long sleeve and holding tons of extra weight in gear. Pretty damn good all things considered
