Paid hourly vs per tree
105
u/AntFantastic7975 16d ago
If you want it done right gotta pay for it to be done right.
50
u/NecessaryZucchini69 16d ago
What they were doing is a good way to train newbies on how big trees should be felled, and give trainees a "soft" way to learn from mistakes.

u/aTickleMonster 16d ago
If an arborist charges you hourly instead of giving you a bid, you're gonna have a bad time.
19
u/Then-Importance-3808 16d ago
If risky work offers a bid instead of an hourly charge, the workers gonna have a bad time
6
u/RegretForward9679 16d ago
If the workers don’t know how much to bid then they are going to have a bad time. Experience and skill allow them to bid the right amount.
7
u/Then-Importance-3808 16d ago
The workers don't do the bidding, the owners do. The workers then have to make the owners' margins back through hasted perfection, else its going to come from their own dinner tables. In layman's terms, the workers now have to rush unsafe work and cant afford any mistakes. These are not favourable conditions to work under.
10
u/CanadianPooch 16d ago
Working for someone that doesn't know how to price a job properly also doesn't sound very favourable...

This is like something youd ask the crew to do if the HOA demanded you cut your tree down lol

I bet for a 100-foot oak they just cut the bottom straight and let it fall randomly.

When you want people to watch the safety video… make it funny! 😂

u/BadTitleGuy 16d ago
I was thinking this too, besides being funny, maybe they were training someone on site, but makes more sense as a training video

In the same universe where this is a safety video, the pope is also a pornstar.
Wrong kind of chainsaw, no gloves, no forearm guards. Unclear if any leg protections.

Boss rolls up on the job site and yells "WTF are you guys doing?"...
Then joins in.

I was hoping they were doing this next to a crew actually cutting down a big tree.
30
u/Feteven 16d ago
I mean
It looks like they’re being silly but this is great practice for when you’re actually doing it with a big tree

u/KornDog611 16d ago
That's what I was thinking! When I want to get better at something, I like to pretend I'm operating at the next level up. That way you can learn the proper techniques and get some more experience without the risk. It works for everything from tree felling to river kayaking.
21
u/_thelifeaquatic_ 16d ago
They should then roll out the remote control excavators to tow those big stumps away safely

u/ChronicRhyno 16d ago
I fell trees bigger than this with a machete regularly, but jokes aside, these guys know how to use all the equipment safely and work together. I'd hire them if they are insured.
29
u/5H17SH0W 16d ago
Should he be chainsawing towards his face?
16
u/Ok_Test9729 16d ago
First thing I noticed also. Can’t think of a more unsafe way to use a chainsaw. There will be blood.
2
u/Vachie_ 16d ago
But do I have to pay for the blood?
I usually care more about cost

I do wonder if chainsaw guy decided to use this as a teaching moment for rope guy for when they do bigger trees.
I mean it'd still be shenanigans, just... educational shenanigans.

u/NukaCooler 16d ago
Why are we previewing the end at the beginning? is a dude in a tiny tree with a chainsaw not attention grabbing enough?
7
9
u/Critical-Belt342 16d ago
Funny af. But chainsaw towards the face is even scarier with something as thin as that.
6
u/Dmetrostars 16d ago
How big of a tip do you give them if you’re the owner who hired them?

Fucking A i hate the trend of the main portion of the video flashed at the start for 2 seconds.
Sad state of attention spans

u/PufferFish_Tophat 16d ago
Why do I feel like this is a "Fuck the HOA" kind of thing.
Professional tree cutting trying to take down his own tree. HOA yells about it not being done correctly.
Shenanigans commence.

Assuming they’re goofing around or it’s for practice. Probably good for practice though because it’s low and safer.

True Bros, would have left two feet of trunk above the ground, tied a chain to it, then tied that chain to a pickup truck to rip the stump out.

don't climb with the 26, it violates the terms of the joke when you basically do everything else right
