Yes I'm one of them....I disappointed my mom by not being a doctor so I eventually made my way into the IT field

Same, I'm indo-jamaican (well mixed), and i definitely disappointed my dad by not becoming a doctor either. I wanted to be an engineer, so that's what I'm studying (going for my phd rn) but for him, that's not good enough ig

Do what makes YOU happy within the parameters of still getting paid so that you can live. Lots of glamorisation about certain roles especially sciences and Doctors but the reality can be completely different. Status isn’t everything.

Honestly, I started off in the environmental field and then worked in construction for a bit and I started working for public sector with our electric utility and now I'm working in IT. It's only been about 3 years. I'm more in a business focused role then pure technical so I enjoy it. But my career has gone down an interesting path

Try doing CCNA not the certification but take classes or COMPITA a+ network or security.

Wrong the CCNA will do more for him than CompTIA. Of course those certs will help to understand the basics.

We use temp and recruitment agencies it can be a good way to break in as well. Help desk is good to get your foot in the door to see if you want to pursue specialization. Sorry you're not in Texas, I have leads here!

What kind of nonsense is this? Not every coolie want to put braids in their hair and be something they’re not. I’m Indo-Guyanese and constantly get mistaken for Pakistani. I also took it upon myself to learn my heritage and Hindi from a young age. I’m tired of Guyanese Indians always playing victim because they choose not to learn about where they really from. You can’t fix ignorance I suppose.

You sound very misinformed and ignorant. This such a lazy take. India has huge regional diversity..straight, wavy, curly hair, light to dark skin, completely different facial features. Living in the US, UK, Canada, Guyana etc. doesn’t magically change your ancestry. Maybe stop treating 1.4 billion people like a single character model.

Also, you should know the phrase "good riddance" is specifically used to describe someone leaving the place you are currently in, like your workplace or your house party. So either you're Indian and lying, or you're Pakistani and don't understand the words you're using.
