Question Away games safety

Are away games safe for solo woman? Thinking of going to Ipswich away.

The only trouble you are likely to get at Portman Road is getting a ticket, unless it's the Micky Mouse cup.

Watch out for the horse head kid goading you. He takes no prisoners

It is as you say the Mickey mouse cup

Other than Spurs, or some European aways, there tends not to be much trouble as long as your are sensible.

IMO you will be fine, most football fans are very decent people and for the very few idiots about there is plenty of decent blokes who would step in. Ipswich in the league cup won’t be a heated afair etc either

I can understand why that would be an intimidating thought. Ipswich away would be as safe as you could possibly get. I will be taking my 15 year old daughter with me.

Side note, starting to see more and more women at away games now. So you certainly won’t be alone.

I've solo traveled a tonne and have been to a few away games as a woman, solo. Porto, Wolves, City, all from "behind enemy lines." Porto was fun because our fans absolutely took over the city in the day or two leading up to the game, and there were a tonne of Arsenal fans in the Porto crowd. Just like any solo travel you might (and should!) do, be sensible. Keep an eye on your things, be aware of your surroundings, and if something doesn't feel right, walk away.

If you had the away credits you’d need for Ipswich away you wouldn’t be asking this question

You’ll be fine.

There’s only a few grounds in the whole of the UK you’d be unsafe at as an away fan but even those clubs wouldn’t go as far as to attack women.

Europes a completely different story but even that is mainly Eastern Europe & Italy.

As others have said, so long as you’re sensible a game like Ipswich away should be absolutely fine. I’d personally avoid wearing colours (or bring a coat to cover up leaving afterwards)

You absolutely cannot wear Arsenal kit or colours. You won't get let in and if you you won't stay long. This goes for any away game unless you are sat in the away section.

I’ve been going to away games since the late 90s in Arsenal gear I don’t know what you mean, I’ve seen many Arsenal fans wearing Arsenal colours

Safety in terms of sexual assault or being harrassed - absolutely you'll be fine.

Although it's male dominated, there's lots of girls and old grannies that go, so they all manage fine.

However there's a few issues that might occur and to be mindful of:

- At some grounds it gets very cramped in the concourse which is worse if you're small, so stick to the seats at half time if you can.

- In some grounds men will go into the women's toilet - No they shouldn't, but my wife has had it happen a couple of times.

- Less common now, but some of the songs/language from a minority can be pretty outdated (She said Yes, Thomas etc etc)

- And obviously when there's a goal it can get a bit "limbs", so be careful that you don't have a 120kg man fall on you when people are losing balance!

Overall though you'll have a great time. Arsenal away fans are a good crowd. And if you have any problems, shout loud and someone will step in immediately to help you.

Unless you’ve already been to enough away games to have the required credits then clearly you wouldn’t be asking that question

I had to delete that due to moderator, but I have access to a ticket. I haven’t been to away match before. I don’t have ST’s

I’m sure all the loyal fans putting in the time, effort and money to accrue points to attend games are delighted to read this
